Had to take it off.
When it was put back I had someone else tight em it beacuse I have a back injury.
I told them to be careful.
Well... They didn't use a trq wrench and tightened them as much as they could.
I know it's supposed to be 26 ft pounds.
The bolts didn't snap but I'm afraid...
82 degrees outside.
Drove the car half an hour.
IAT temp was 120-127 depending on moving or at a light.
IAT2 temp was at 120-127 depending on same thing.
Parked the car in the sun for 15 minutes idling.
When time was up:
IAT 156
IAT2 134
Are these good or bad numbers for my...
08GT500.
Mods, 2.6 pulley, idler, CAI, dyno tune
AFCO dual fan heat exchanger
170* thermostat.
Temp outside, 70.
IAT running temp mid 90's...BUT after 15 minutes if idle with hood down,
It went to 150.
IAT2 105-110 running temp.
After 15 minutes of idle with hood down,
Temp was...
Had the unit installed along with a 170* Thermo.
Car was tuned to the thermos instructions.
When we talk temp., do we look at the Intake Air Temp?
Mine is running around 117-120 at idle after this install, but if it sits idling...say for 15-45 min, it has got as high as the high 130's.
This...
I heard u can change the fan speed on the dual fan heat exchangers when u out in a 170* thermostat via the tune
Is this true? If so how?
If not what should u change on the tune for these mods and to what settings?
Thanks!
Hey everyone.
Mods so far are pulley, CAI, and tune.
Next week I'm ordering a AFCO dual fan heat exchanger, and putting in a 170* thermostat with upgraded tanks.
I was at 530 hp with the CAI, pulley, and tune.
I'm expecting the cooling mods to show better numbers.
How much would one...
When I finalky order and get my heat exchanger, what all is going to be needed to be changed when they put it and the 170* thermostat in?
Fan speed maybe? What else?
What needs to be adjusted for the Thermo and set to what?
Thanks.
Thanks for helping us get the products we needed at a great price!
And thanks for taking the time to talk and explain things as well!
Very much appreciated!
I was doing the test the TSB asks to do to check the clutch and syncros even though I've had the TSB done.
Starting the car and slightly trying to put it in gear without the clutch pressed.
Everything was fine...no grinding and they did not go in gear.
The TSB says to put your ebrake on but I...
Shift Knob has the knob, adapter with nut, and boot retainer.
I have no clue what order to put these on.
Do I put the boot retainer on first, then the adapter, and then the nut on top right below the knob?
If not what order do I put them in? Does the adapter screw in directly to the knob or...
Looking to cool down the temps for summers.
What is the best bang for buck heat exchanger for a
08 GT500?
I don't track and mods are pulley,CAI, and tune.
Is a heat exchanger absolutely needed if you have done these mods and
race the car maybe four times a yr just against buddies no track...
With 535 rwhp the performance tires aren't nearly doing the job at ALL.
Saying that...trying to decide if the Nitto road course radial or drag radial would be better.
Wanting something that will REALLY grip on the street, letting me finally launch at more than 2k RPM, but would like...
A shout out to ya.
Saw your baby in this issue if 5.0 mag!
Congrats bud!
You've put a lot of work into that beauty and I was so happy to see it in the Magazine!
Ok so I'm still needing a much better rear tire set for my 08 GT500 and still doing research.
I have stock wheels 18x9.5 and am looking at Toyo R888's, and
Nitto 555R Drag Radials.
These will be used for Daily driving though I only put about
5k mi max on the car a year.
The 888 come in...
Question...
I have a 2008 GT500.
The stock tires aren't getting me traction
as I am now at 535RWHP.
I was thinking about Nitto 555r or NT05R for
the back of course.
Then I read how bad they were in rain.
I use this as my DD and have been reading
about the 888's.
From what I gather they grip...

Looking at DR's
At 535 rwhp the stock tires are not gripping.
I need them for grip but will be using them
Almost always on the street, so they will need to
work well for everyday driving.
I tried regular 555's but they didn't grip for
anything.
Looking at Nitto NT05R 285/40/18
or MT...
Had pulley upgrade, CAI, dyno tune...upgrades done.
Also had Aeroforce Interceptor Gauges installed.
Thought I was not gonna use car for week so
unplugged them.
Plans changed. Plugged them back and now getting
off readings. Plus a couple of other odd things with them.
I think some things...
08 GT500
2.6 pulley and idle pulley
JLT CAI
Dyno tune.
median
528.4HP
533.76Trq
Best
535HP
(forgot Trq was about 537 or 8)
Good numbers for those mods?
Im going to have an upper pulley and idler swap (2.6 pulley) done early next week along with a CAI and tune.
I ran across a problem though.
I have a 2008 GT500 built in 09 of 2007.
I read the 07's crankshaft damper was replaced in the 08 models due to a safety issue.
And that any mods done...
How Much HP/TRQ Will Longtubes Provide for a 08GT500?
I am having a JLT CAI, and upper and idle pulley swap done (2.6), along with a dyno tune this next week.
I was thinking of making long tubes my next mod I save up for.
Had them on my 06GT but I'm not sure how much they provide for the
07-09...
