lol

All they do with crossfit pull-ups is use momentum. I don't care if you can do 30 crossfit "pull-ups." If you can't do 10 slow, all the way up and all the way back down until your arms are straight pull-ups, then you can't do 10 pull-ups.

We do "strict" pull-ups most of the time which is all the way up and then down. Nothing will make a grown man feel like a bitch like doing pull-ups.

Tell me about it! I started my routine about 8-9 months ago after sitting around injured for a year, and when I started, I could do one pull-up. ONE. And this past Tuesday was the first time I've been able to hit 10. It took that long to progress. I've progressed twice as fast on pretty much everything else. Not only are pull-ups hard, but it also takes forever to get good at them.

Yep. Same here. I sat around for a year getting flabby because of a herniated disk. I actually just got done with my arm day and my shoulder is feeling a bit tweaked. Hope it's better tomorrow...

I injured myself doing squats and various other things many years ago. It was bad and about four or five times a year I was nearly bed ridden and could hardly walk because I would keep hurting it. Always thought is was a disc or two. A little over a year ago my L4 vertebrae completely broke apart and I had to have emergency surgery. Come to find out I kept fracturing my L4 and L5. They would calcify and I'd crack them again. That's the level of stupidity I can get to lol. It was a few months of recovery but I'm almost as good as new and lifting heavy. But I stay away from squats and dead lifts.

This. The "no time" excuse is a pile of bullshit. FIND the time. Or just don't bitch about being out of shape.

Exactly. There is time if it matters to you

Today I did chest.
My workouts are only 20-30 minutes long. (I follow the Dorian Yates rule of lifting. One warmup set, two heavy sets.)
My only supplement is BCAA's. (Branched Chain Amino Acids), and I swear by them. I try to workout within one hour of eating a big meal. Real food is key in grow as is resting/sleeping.

You have to make time and plan for it. I found that it was tough making myself go after work when I was already beat down from being outside. So I had to bite the bullet and start going to the 5am class. Luckily I can go to work right after the workout since I'm going to sweat through my clothes at work anyway. People cringe when I tell them I get up at 4:30 three days a week.

I also do jiu jitsu on Monday's and Wednesday's. It's a hell of a workout and fun. Wish I didn't wait until 40 to start. Highly recommended.

Mine is the L5 as well.

Yeah, I watch it on squats and dead lifts too. I've been doing squats but haven't gone above 250 lbs yet. I don't know what my max is but 250 is the most I'll play around with right now. I won't dead lift more than 205 right now....too afraid. I just do back extensions for lower back.

In the winter I pedal a bike one hour a day every day.

As soon as the 8 acre pumpkin patch goes in, I switch to the hoe and pull workout. I basically go until I can't grab and hold onto a weed to pull it out, or I can't catch my breath, usually a couple hours. My fingers are a little sore right now.

I just finished doing jim stoppanis shortcut to shred, lifting and hiit cardio between sets 6 times a week for 6 weeks. Now I'm doing his shortcut to size 12 week program that is 4 days a week. I do about an hour of heavy bag work on two of my rest days, or rock climb at my indoor gym. It's been fun to see my body and strength change, but I know it will take about a year before I see anything drastically different. Overall I'm just enjoying eating healthier and hitting the gym most days. I also do IF with my feeding window between 12 and 8. It's crazy how good i started to feel once I started IF. It's not for everyone, but I love it. Today specifically, was chest, triceps, and calves.

Yesterday's workout was a 12 mile bike ride at 15.7mph avg. Most days this is my gym either running or biking. Just can't beat being outside.

I've been focusing on cardio this year. Well, that's misleading because it makes it sound like I was doing something else previously... I should say that I've gotten off my ass this year. I've done a lot of mountain biking this year and started eating better. I enjoy weight training, but I see more results from mountain biking and it's a lot more fun. Once I reach my goal on fat loss, I'll incorporate weight training more often. I'm 35lbs down and 10 more to go.. maybe 15.
This!
Been running 2-3 miles a day on my home threadmill for the past 3 weeks or so. On top of that, take the dogs out walking at least 3 times a week for about another mile or 2 and do some body workouts including sex lol. So far I went down about 6 lbs just on cardio/exercise. I lost another 10 lbs on diet alone but been doing that for about 2 months so im pretty happy with my results soo far. I’m 5’9 and was almost at 230, right now im at 208-210. I’ll start weight training once im back down to 195-200 like I used to be before, hopefully im not too bad in shape in that dept LOL

Not looking forward on waking up at 4:30am again but ugh.. thats the married/parent life lol

I think it depends on how they word it.

Some people make it sound like their kids prevent them, vice the people who just prefer time at home.

We use exercise as a family thing. I'll go for a5 mile run and my kids go with on bikes.
In the beginning, its not as easy. My kids are 9 & 3 and we been doing outside activities now that both can do it on their own as well. Having the baby around in a stroller or on a bike mount etc is do-able but there’s more to it in between and they also need their proper sleep, etc. So we waited till my youngest was old enough so we can take them all out again.

Unfortunately, my college days of working out 5 days a week for as long as I wanted are far gone. For the last year and a half, I have been consistently going to the gym for at least 2-3 days a week (sometimes more if I can find time). I say I'm going to do cardio everytime I go, but I never do lol. Astonishingly enough, I have actually made a lot of muscle gaining progress and besides the fact that I'm not "ripped" stomach wise, I'm happy with how I look.

Ok, back to the purpose of this thread. I did a chest and tricep workout yesterday. Since I only go to the gym 2-3 days a week, I do trap exercises every time I go. Pretty happy with the results.

Today -

Back Squat: 75% 7x5
Wide Shoulder To Overhead: 65% 8x4
Snatch Hang Pulls usually go until my forum starts to slack

And some HIIT probably sets of Wallballs, rower, and box jumps

Lol at the crossfit videos. I like doing the workouts but the personalities of the people get annoying. I don't go to a box or anything I'll do the workouts on my own
