I thought 4.10's were a great street gear when I had the IRS and the T45. Now that I have the 9" and a TKO 600 with 4.11's I need way more gear. First gear in the TKO is 2.87 -vs- 3.37 for the T45. This winter the 4.10's are being replaced by 4.56's.

I thought you could get the tko with 337 first gear just like the t45??????

There are two types of TKO500, one with a 3.3x first gear (the sight is down right now, but for some reason I though it was a 3.35 or 3.30, can't remember), and one with a 2.87 first. The TKO600 only comes with a 2.87 first.

You can't get a 600 with a 3.3x first gear, it only comes with a 2.87. Only. No if's and's or but's. The 500 comes in two varieties - The blue pill is a 3.3x first gear and the red pill is a 2.87 first.

Just put in 4.30's. I switched from 4.10's with hesitation, but am glad I did. They're very similar to the 4.10's but are a little more fun.

Gear whine is one of the prettiest sounds - you'll grow to love it. You made a good choice with the 4.30s. You'll love them... for about a month, then you'll want something steeper. :coolman:

I had 4.30s, 4.56s, and 4.88s in my 99 Cobra at one time or another. No matter which gear I had, I always used first.

With traction, torque multiplication is your friend.
Pretty much the same deal... I went from 4.10, 4.30 then stepped up to the 4.88's when I had the spool installed...Obviously my stang wont see any rain....

Since you have the IRS, I would go no more than 4.30, youll be content for awhile...DA snake boy!!!

I had my 4.56s for one week before I wanted 4.88s.

Sorry for the long day, business travel sucks!
The TKO is bullet proof, it shifted very stiff at first, now it is sweet. The TKO 600 has a 2.87 1st -vs- a 3.37 in the T45. This combination with my 4.71 gears and 315 DR's makes for a wild ride in 1st and 2nd.

My 4.10 felt great until I went to a steeper gear. Now, I want nothing do to with 4.10s. Nothing less than 4.30s.

gears are kind of like a bandaid for lack of power :(
because as much as I love some nice steep gears, I really would like oh say 500 to the wheels with gentle 327 gears
