They had another trip they took with this truck (TFL) coming back from Detroit I think and driving to Denver. If I remember right, one of the fast chargers was $.47/kwh.
If those prices become the norm, it will be even less attractive unless you solely charge at home. But I'm sure they will start hitting people for charging during peak hours. My local power company sent me an email last year that said something like "schedule your electric car charging hours based on our schedule and save $50 on your next bill."
Will really depend on how much road tripping you do. 47 cents is high, but compared to some places in CA where peak power is in the 50 range its not horrible. Compared to our old lake house where it was 8 cents that's crazy.
I got a survey from our power company, it sounds like Missouri power commission wants to put everyone on a time of use plan. Our poco already has it as an option but its just over 30 cents per kwh between 4-8pm m-f. Then the rest of the time you pay 9 cents instead of 10 cents per kwh. I cant think of why ANYONE would choose that.
