and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper probably.

Don't forget, your going to need to beef up the transmission, and suspension to handle the added weight and horsepower effectively. Plus, if you are one who likes a warranty, you won't have one.

does the warranty really matter, considering every one of these vehicles for the most part gets modded anyway

It does matter for some, and that's part of the cost in the car's MSRP. Sure you could build a quicker car cheaper, but you lose out on a warranty which could be very useful on an unproven platform. Most people buy more than they can truly afford, and then are up shit creek when it breaks and they can't fix it.

For a brand new car without many used aftermarket kits available, you could spend less money to get similar performance specs, maybe a little faster, but take a larger hit in depreciation and resale.

At least in a modded gt500 with factory supercharger, you have a realistic chance at "maintaining" a warranty. A blown GT will not.

Ummm...if the GT350R is the current benchmark, go try and build one for anywhere NEAR what the msrp is. LMK how you're doing after you buy the wheels and stilll need a car, motor, drivetrain, and all of the finer details you need to build it. Just sayin'.

Yes the warranty matters to a lot of people, and that's is why the majority of GT500s do not get modded. It's only the majority of people who post on this website that mod their cars. No matter the cost or warranty situation, building your own high powered car is always a poor substitute for buying a real deal factory built GT500.

Still In for the announcement of an EB GT500 and all the but hurt that will follow.
With the Raptor and GT sporting an EB it doesn't seem to far fetched that they would do it to the GT500.
If they build one at all...

They will. But it will be a 2019/2020 and be announced early next year at the auto show.

I wonder what car Ford will use as it's new performance benchmark for the next generation GT500 ? I hope it will be against the 16 Camaro ZL1 automatic, because that car is supposed to be capable of running 10.5s on drag radials.

Says who?

Assuming you are talking about the ET, a friend of mine who works for GM. Said the car is within a tenth in the 1/4 mile of the 2015 Z06 that shares the same motor with an 8 speed automatic. Also said it runs 11.2s on the street tires. Here is a video of the Z06 on drag radials.

Considering it weighs 3-400lbs more than the Z I would say 10.5 is a stretch. Everyone went crazy over the c7z 1320 time but when it came down to it, the Z is not any faster than the zr1.

I still have to think that there is a remote possibility that the car could use a modified version of the Ford GT V6 ecoboost engine. Thats how the last generation GT500 started. (modified Ford GT engine).
