Ok... dont flame too hard. Thread title is a real question. Car in my sig has been sold and will likely be replaced by a GT350 or a new, left over, 2015 Z28 in the next 6 months or so... I see many z28s still available for low $50k range brand new.

Question is... are the GT350's being sold for MSRP yet? IF so, that may be the way to go.

However... the z28 is also a VERY special car with the ability to make 550+ whp with a cam and simple bolt ons. Would be a pure N/A 7 liter beast.

I think long term, the Z/28 will be the one to have. As far as looks go, the GT350 hands down. Now if you throw the GT350R into the mix, then I'd say go with the R.

Gt350 all day including for long term. Throw some stickier tires on the non R GT350 and it will kill the z28 on the track.

^^ you might be right although Randy Pobst beat the z28 in the R by just over a second i belive around Chuckwalla... Not sure if tires alone on the non R will be enough.

I have actually debated the same thing...

I think, they are both special in their own right. I lean more towards the 16 gt350 track pack or the base 17 gt350. Problem is that you cannot find them for MSRP. Which is around 55-56k. They all have ridiculos mark ups.

The Z28, you can find for 51-52k, now.

If you can live with a slightly less appealing interior and plan on having a DD, Id say z/28. If not, and can find a great deal on a 350, go for that.

Either way, cant go wrong!

Was looking at this one myself (slightly used /11k miles), even used, they still had a 6k mark up on it... Had to pass.

damn thats awesome... i love red on both the gt350 and the z28. wow.

Here in SoCal they still have high ADMs everywhere i look.

I have a few shitty dd's so that isnt a concern.

then of course you ask yourself.. what will the new z28 bring? I read it will stay with a large displacement N/A motor based on the new lt1.....

direct injected 7 liter ls7? 550+ hp? wow.

I found the best way to get one for MSRP is to call them up and tell them you are willing to do a deal right now and give them a deposit right now if they sell it to you for list. No sensible dealer would turn that down.

There have been plenty people both here and on MS6 that paid msrp for their GT350.

GT350 all the way. It does everything better. Bolt-on GT350s make 530whp+ and they weigh less with a full interior completely optioned out. It's light-years ahead as a street car and it's faster on a track.

However, I think the current Camaro platform is a winner. If you prefer the styling of a Camaro you should look at a new zl1.

That platform is more nimble than both options. I think it's an extremely boring design on a car with really awful lines.

I haven't seen a 530 whp bolt on gt350... Not saying it can't happen but I'm totally out of the loop on that... Link?

I think most would agree a cammed/bolt on ls7 would make more power than a bolt on voodoo motor.

I also don't think a non R 350 is faster a track.. They are very very close at worst.

carbon ceramic brakes. look up those prices. GT350 all the way.

Already have... Thousand per corner and carbon brakes will out last iron rotors under normal, non racing use.

It does not do everything better. The R barely beat the Z28. The TP, not to mention the base would not beat a Z28 (except in a straight line), not even with aftermarket tires. I would agree that the nonR 350s would make for a better daily (but even that is subjective).

530whp on a 350, you say? How does 600+whp, WITH 600wtq on the Z28 sound to you?

Looks of them are subjective, but both of them do a great job at looking like a truly special car.

GT350R>Z28>GT350. imo opinion the LS7 is the better motor maybe not better power to liter but better overall. Z28 is gonna hold its value alot more then the regular GT350 ford is going to make tons of them like they did the GT500. I know the R is faster around the track but is the regular gt350 i'm not sure?

600wtq is tough to do NA. hell it's tough to do NA on a viper with an extra 1400cc. still you can build a heads and cam LS7 with 600whp and 550 wtq on pump 93 for probably what a cam swapped/full bolt on/exotic fueled GT350 setup costs. which will probably be in the 565whp 465 wtq range

I agree. Its tough but doable. I have seen LS7s in the mid 600s rwhp wise and right at 585-600rwtq on some of the more extreme builds.

If OP was planning to get serious with the modding, I think the Z28 might he the better car for his money. If not looking to go mod crazy, I think he would be better off with a 350.

I'd still like to see 600 whp and 600 wtq usable on track without some pretty impressive aero. Make all the power you want, the car that puts it down is going to win, which is the mustang if you watched the motortrend video.

agree... I cant leave anything alone so if it were to be a z28 it would be full bolt on plus cam for sure.

very true... however when the z28 first dropped, minds were absolutely blown. Really tells you how good the gt350 is becauase its better on the track... the R is at least.

something about the z28 keeps calling me.. . both cars will be exclusive and rare, but the z28 just seems more "special." very subjective for sure... but idk.
