You dropped it into second at 125mph. Yep, there's a very good chance you did some damage. Time to check the motor. How did it drive after you over-revved the engine? How did it idle?

My God, downshifting 5th to 4th I'm assuming? In 2nd gear at 125mph you were wayyyy over redline.

I'll keep your car in my prayers.

Just hissing?

That's it?

Blew a vacuum line off?

I'm with Jimmy on this. Over reving the motor over reved the SC and caused a huge boost spike. Popped a vac line somewhere.

Engine is probably ok. Yeah you over spun it but I bet the tired locked up in the rear and slowed it down quickly. Plus you weren't under WOT/full load when you over reved.

In the 90s I overreved my Supra by shifting from 3rd to 2nd at redline instead of 4th. Rear tires broke loose and I heard the rev limiter. Pushed clutch in immediately. Everything was fine. It was my first time wearing a helmet while drag racing. Wasn't used to it and couldn't see well in my peripheral. Grabbed the gear at an angle instead of straight back. :nonono:

The way the seat and shifter on 79-2003 suck. Its kinda akward to shift fast when trying to race. Even worse for shorter people. 05' and up are much better design.

Probably a hose as mentioned above. When I first got my car back in 03, never been to the track and got overly excited first time out I nailed 3rd to 2nd. Tires locked up, tach needle buried itself for a split second, I hit the clutch as quick as I could. All was fine.

I'd be glad that I didn't wreck in this situation. You lucked out. Damage might not be super damaging if it still runs. Good luck man.

These cars have a rev limiter for a reason. Probably vacuum line as mentioned above.
