What are the three prices that you show for each car?

CarsDirect.com Price is the price that YOU PAY (before taxes and other customary fees and charges, such as dealer documentation fees, tire and battery disposal fees, license and registration, and where applicable, finance charges) for the purchase of a car. Leased vehicles may have a different acquisition price.

Invoice is popularly known as the published amount that the dealer paid the manufacturer for the vehicle. This may or may not bear close relation to the dealer’s actual cost, but can be useful as a benchmark. This figure is available on many other web sites; however, only CarsDirect.com adds an estimate of local and regional fees from the manufacturer to the dealers to this price, which makes it very close to the actual sticker invoice amount for cars at your local dealer. No other source has this level of detail. Most other sources of Invoice are not accurate at a regional and local level.

An estimate of these manufacturer-to-dealers fees (such as an advertising fee) is provided for each car and is added to the Invoice to make this figure as accurate as possible. We make this estimate for most cars in most regions. There are some regions and vehicles for which we do not have estimates of these fees.

For this model, we have added $0 to the Invoice to represent these fees.

THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE CarsDirect.com PRICE THAT YOU PAY.

MSRP is the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. This is a suggested price only. For most cars, the CarsDirect.com price is below this amount. Some high demand cars may be over this amount.

MSRP and Dealer Invoice are shown here to help you make an informed price comparison. Most online shoppers expect to see this information, and we're happy to provide it, but please be aware that only the CarsDirect.com price represents your actual price for the vehicle at CarsDirect.com.

How do I know that the CarsDirect.com Price is a good price?

CarsDirect.com can offer great prices because we deal in huge quantities. Our streamlined operations and highly automated purchasing system allow us to provide our customers with exceptional values.

What does the CarsDirect.com Price include?

The ‘base’ price of the vehicle
All options that you select
Base Destination Charges – This is a charge that is added to the base price for every vehicle.
Any applicable rebates (usually in lieu of any applicable manufacturer financing)
What does the CarsDirect.com price NOT include?

Local taxes, license fees and other local fees, such as dealer documentation fees, tire and battery disposal fees, and where applicable, finance charges – In some states sales tax also may be imposed on the amount of the applicable rebates.
Occasional ‘special qualification’ rebates – i.e., for new college grads only; for customers trading in a specific type of car.

Ask your CarsDirect.com Vehicle Specialist for more information on ‘special qualification’ rebates.
Can I take advantage of advertised Special Manufacturer Financing or Leasing Programs through CarsDirect?

Absolutely! In most cases, you must choose between a program OR a customer rebate or a special manufacturer-to-dealer incentive that are already included in your CarsDirect.com price. So, your price may go up if you take advantage of special manufacturer financing.

On a lease, the acquisition cost - called the gross capitalized cost - may differ from the CarsDirect.com price.

Ask your CarsDirect.com Vehicle Specialist for complete manufacturer program details for your area, and how participation in these programs will affect your CarsDirect.com price.

Will the CarsDirect.com price ever change after I place my order?

Our great prices are still affected by market conditions, and CarsDirect.com prices are subject to change without notice. However, once you confirm your order you are fully protected against any price changes on vehicles available from our dealer partner inventory other than a change in the incentive offered by the manufacturer. Naturally, our prices are subject to the availability of the vehicle as configured and in some cases we may not be able to procure your specific vehicle. On very rare occasions, we may mis-price a vehicle and, as you can understand, we reserve the right to correct any errors.

Please note that CarsDirect.com strives to include all known manufacturer incentives within the CarsDirect.com price. Manufacturer incentives are subject to change at any time prior to delivery of the vehicle. CarsDirect.com does not administer these programs, which are subject to and often change without notice. Eligibility for these programs is subject to verification by CarsDirect.com and by our dealer partners.

What about your prices on options?

CarsDirect.com’s upfront option prices are for manufacturer-installed options. Prices may vary for options that are custom installed at the dealership.

Why do you say the Dealer Invoice amount might not be the amount that the dealer paid to the manufacturer?

Dealer Invoice price may or may not bear close relation to a dealer's actual cost for the vehicle. In some cases, a dealer's cost for a vehicle may be significantly less than the invoice price originally paid for the vehicle. Any difference between invoice price and the dealer’s final cost may be caused by a multitude of factors including factory refunds, rebates, allowances, or incentives which the manufacturer or distributor may provide to the dealer. THESE FEES DO NOT AFFECT THE CARSDIRECT.COM PRICE THAT YOU PAY.

Dealerships average cost is about around $62K on a Z06. Pay $70K and they made $9K on a "discounted" car. Read some more!!!:read:

wow!!!! you said a lot without answering my question!

when did i say anything about actual dealer price? i put up the invioce pricing because its an easy number to relate to. regardless of what the dealer pays(you as well as i know that dealers will pay different prices for thier vehicles at different times of the year. also the price will vary from dealer to dealer. plus the dealer will often recieve rebates that are not made public in addition to the rebates and percantage rates made public specifically to move inventory.

now i ask again, where can you find a brand new c6 7k below invoice pricing? you dont like the invoice in the question? where can you find a c6 at 35k.

last thing this has nothing to do with the conversation predicting msrp for the new camaro or the competition it will bring the mustang. people will pay more than the price of the c6 at the start of production. people will pay less than invoice a year or two later. meaning if msrp is 32k like many believe, you will have some selling for 28k or less!

In my town GT500's arent rare at all, hell there are three times as many GT500's as there are TERMINATORS.

3- GT500's (1-white/blue stripes, 1- Black/silver strips, 1- Tungsten/Black stripes)
3- 05-07 Mustang GT's (1-Orange, 1 Blue C/S, 1 Silver)
2- 03/04 MACH I's (1- Azure Blue, 1- Red)
1- 03 Cobra (Black 10th ANN)

AND this is in KETCHIKAN ALASKA! No roads to anywhere other than right here. So in short I have the rarest mustang in this locale.

The Tungsten/Black GT500 is still sitting at the local dealer.

i'll say it again, do you really think the 4.6 is maxed out in NA configuration at 300hp? do you really think ford is so IGNORANT to not increase the HP of the mustang GT when the competition arrives. dude, quit using ignorant assumptions to make your point, they dont work.

Do I think it's maxed out? No.
Do I see ford trying to increase the power? No. Why, look at the history. The mustang has been behind on performance for over 15 years, and still put the camaro out of business. There was the show that stated..what does the mustang have over the camaro..those 7 letters... M U S T A N G.

They had no answer because Ford went forced induction. Now chevy has upped the playing field with technology in their LSx motors series. We will see how many people jump from Ford to Chevy if a SS Camaro is introduced with a 427 LS7! Chevy is talking about a blown LS3 for their flagship Vette. I can see them sliding an LS7 into a Camaro for competition with the GT500.

I'm pretty sure a GT500 and a C6 corvette are pretty close in performance...unfortunately..you can probably get a C6 for a few thousand cheaper. :(

so the base V8 for the camaro is speculated to be atleast 400hp, yet you dont think ford will raise the 4.6 to atleast 330hp or something? they would be absoloutly stupid not to! when the redesigned 05' stangs came out, dealerships had $5k mark ups on the GTs through the first year, what do you think its gonna be like for the new camaro and challenger? i have no doubt that demand will be far greater for them than the mustang just because they will be the new "it" cars. i could see the camaro out selling the stang' the first 3 or so years, just because of popularity, with the following years being a toss up.

this isnt the game that was played 10 years ago, i dont think GM is stupid enough to make the same mistakes again. ford is gonna have to pull some stuff out of the bag if they want to keep the sales lead in the pony car market the first few years. and a front end redesign isnt it.

I think Lutz is quoted as saying something along the lines of, "the Camaro will be within $500 of the Mustang at every price point."

To think that a base V8 Camaro will be $36k is dreaming and you are going to wake up to a nightmare of a Camaro kicking a Mustangs rearend for basically the same money.

As for the comments about GM having nothing to compete with the GT500. Maybe not the first year and the GT500 may not even be around after that. However, if GM can build their Flagship sports car for $44k, which bests the GT500 in every category, then they can certainly build a Camaro that competes with it for the same or less.

There is a serious possibility that Camaro could put some real sales pressure on Mustang for the first time in a long time. It is a darn good looking car and GM's engine development is very very impressive at this time. Perhaps the best engine development over the last 5 years than any other car maker. Not to mention their reliability ratings are up and their interiors have been vastly improving.

I think the new Camaro might fail. :uh oh: Im sure its going to be a running sob but the design might not appeal to the masses and it sure isnt going to hook the older baby boomer segment that loved the 67-69s with the retro thing the way the Mustang did in 2005. Face it, whether every body likes it or not, the S197 Mustang caught on with the older crowd and that has really driven sales. I dont see that market jumping into the next Camaro but I guess we will see whenever this car makes it to market.

Im sure it looks better in person. :shrug: Right?

I honestly hope the camaro whoops a$$ on the mustangs!! This way gt500's will come down in price. And Competition brings out the best from manufactures and better pricing for consumers. Right now the mustang has no competition..so 2005-06-07-08 GT's have not changed a bit. Ford is not a proactive company..it's a reactive company.

With the competition done with its suspension/recovery time ;-), hopefully Ford will up the game significantly due to the renewed competition.

When you ask about a Vette for $7K under sticker I'm sure you're referring to a post I made. That post was talking about a C6 Z06. I never said a base Vette for $7K under and I highly doubt you could find one for that price. I don't give a shit about your invoice question, just get it right!!! The dealer invoice is all bullshit. What you need to do is know their true cost and bargin with that in mind. Most anyone can buy a car for $3-400 over "dealer invoice" because they're set up to show you a BS invoice. My Z06 deal was for real. RT112 Auto in Suffolk, NY. I decided against it when I found out I could purchase an '08 Vert with 435 HP and with the paddle shift automatic. I'll also get new 100,000 mile warranty on an '08, so I figure Sept 08 I'll be in the market for a Vette. Until then I'll have to suffer with my lowly 03 FORD MUSTANG SVT COBRA!!!

ahhhh man,
vette = sports car
gt500 = muscle car
camaro = muscle car
challenger = muscle car
firebird = muscle car
viper = sports car

you see 2 of those are in their own class, the viper and vette, Ford does not have a car in that category right now, since the F GT is out of production

Are you sure?

They built the Terminator when there was 0 competition from any body!
:read:

I call that being proactive and same goes for the GT500

I think many of you need to go to the mulletsoftheworld.com website and buy a cheby

Haha. I always love the mullet and gold chain (corvette) comments. How long does it take to change a stereotype...always an interesting thing.

And if a Camaro is a Mullet Chariot then what does that make the cheaper Mustang? Oh yea, a girls car. Haha, just playing with you.:beer:

And technically the FGT was in another class than the viper and corvette, EXOTIC sports car. Meaning limited production and exclusive price tag.

I do agree with you about the Cobra and GT500 and I think Ford earned a lot of respect form the enthusiast crowd for that and there were quite a lot of converts and are still many contemplating it, like myself.
