Been meaning to post this for a while.
BADASS03SVT and myself proved on the dyno and on the track with a stock longblock that the best pulley combo for drag racing and overall power out of a Race Ported Eaton is a 2.9/6lb combo. Running the old proven combo of a 2.9/4lb combo put out a few hp less and a few tq less.
I think we both added more boost on the dyno and at the track but nothing showed up.
So....
Over the winter I had a Boss 5.0 Big Bore engine built at 9:1 compression, stock cylinder heads with new springs for custom cams, custom cams for a 2.3 Liter blower done by the engine builder Michael @ L&M Engines. Still running the 2.9/6lb combo but wanted to see if adding more rpm's to the blower if anything could show up on the dyno.
We went from a 2.9 upper to a 2.7 upper on the dyno resulting in 1.5 psi of extra boost. Nothing showed up.
So we're back to the 2.9/6lb combo still being as fast as you can spin a Race Ported Eaton and anything after that just won't do anything.
I sure tried and wanted to find some more hp, tq, or even a few more rpm's out of the blower that I could use but nothing. Sure I could spin the blower as fast as I was but it would not do anything other than build heat. The hp/tq curvers are already there and by spinning it faster it will not add rpm's to move your peak higher to make more power. Only the opposite in that it will hurt it if you're at max pulley combo already.
Just a few thoughts I've been meaning to post. I wanted to make 600hp with a Race Ported Eaton through the auto in my car but it fell short. Not sure if we'll dyno it again or not.
