Have not played with it much but recall it being pretty damn stiff. I'll get back to you in the AM. Still at work.....with another knife if my pocket.
Thank you. And thank you for being an addict! Haha

They’re definitely stiff when new, but with enough weight in the handle, it’ll flick open. At least I think it will. The question is whether the carbon scaled handle has enough weight.

Are you able to open the Chaparral holding just the blade and flicking your wrist?
So I can hold the body and flick down and open the blade. Flicking out isn’t as easy. Didn’t try holding the blade. Sure it would get easier with use. I will say I wish it was a little bigger and not a fan of the wire like belt clip.

Mine will with a good flick with my thumb in the ring and using wrist, side or down. It's better now than when I got it but still stiff. I don't have any other Spyderco knives to compare it with.

Everything I've seen says the spydercos coming out of their Taiwan maker are very stiff but can adjust the pivot screw to lighten the action. T6 torx head I believe, but I haven't really touched the pivot yet.

They break in a little over time. You can also add a tiny drop of lube (i used gun oil) on the washers and it worked well. Did this on both my Spydercos.

I use a Spyderco as a edc. It was stiff at first but loosened up on it own with use. Now I can flip it open almost like it's assisted. I would wait before doing any adjustment.

So you're interested in the Prototype, or a standard version? Any idea how many Prototypes in the run? I see that the Prototype was $719. What does the standard version sell for? I'm intrigued by this one.

Interested...but doubt I'll pay that much for a knife. It's sexy though! I just got these other two Microtechs and one aint even got here yet. I'm good for a while.

Always fun to dream when it comes to awesome looking knives like this. I'd love to own a Microtech knife. I don't NEED one, but I'd like one. Some day maybe. For now, this is my only knife. (y)

The older brother just arrived a few minutes ago. Just before I leave for work…nice. Easier to open due to more thumb surface area. Can’t say I love one more than the other size wise. We’ll see in time.

Damn, son! Leave some for the rest of us!

Yeah- you’re becoming the Bubba, from Forrest Gump, of knives.

I’ve got folding knives, folding knives with serrations, folding knives with black blades……..

…..I’ve got out the front knives…

I just like toys...we were unlucky in the kid department so I've just decided to stay one myself.

We get to do this once, make it what you want. I appreciate seeing the toys and the unbiased feedback. Keep it coming!

Here are some of my knives. I have some more, but nothing I would consider to be Kershaw or Gerber type quality. I used to collect knives, but I stopped a while ago after I had a crazy collection of them. Now I just focus on my car & watches, but I decided to just keep mu current knives since I still have a decent amount.

The giant foldable knife is more of a novelty than anything. It's one of those knives I bought at a gun show. You guys probably know what i'm talking about. There's always that one guy with a booth at the gun show selling those Katana swords, "belt buckles" that are just brass knuckles, smaller knives, American flag shirts, stickers, and anything where an American flag can be placed lol.

From the left:

Winchester, Frost, vintage Bell that is completely automatic opening and closing, not sure of the brand of the white assisted opening knife, Mil-Tech assisted opening, SOG Twitch II assisted opening, Kershaw Kuro Tanto serrated assisted opening, Kershaw Leek assisted opening, and a SOG Flash II assisted opening.

For reference, the vintage Ruko German Bowie knife is 11.5"

I was telling someone just last night at work about Frost Cutlery. Pretty sure it was them anyhow. When I was a very young teen I use to get their catalog. Not sure how often it came out but getting it was awesome! They had all the colorful knifes like Rambo and this and that....made my day to go through it a 100 times! They had blow darts and throwing knives! I do believe the only knife I ever ordered from it was this one which I still have and 50 now.

Do you carry it daily and use it daily throughout your day? Or is it used mainly at home.

The new one on the right looks to be a nicer size. Let us know after you've had it for a couple of weeks which one is more useful to you.
