Good luck to you. I think a safe tune 550 whp NA is definitely possible. I think I could do it with a little more rpm. I'm thinking 8100 rpm would get me there. I think you can bust right through 500 with rpm.

Good point, rpm..if u have the torque up top! That's why I'm so happy w the CJ intake, Tb combo. I also swapped mufflers at same time (stock gt to ford racing touring) but I am up 26hp and 27 TQ so far. At 7300. I'll update after my Thursday cam tune day w the man...

From what I've been reading its not a big deal to hit 7800 rpm once in a while w stock rods and pistons especially if you don't get oil starvation by keeping a full oil level, and use e85 to protect against detonation hammering.. Those are the stock rod killers on n.a.

Now for you lawman, those rods can handle 8000 all day long, not to mention the pistons. I think your livernois heads also want 8000+. Its time for a new dyno run!

problem with 8000 rpms is some ecu have a hard limiter in them and cannot be passed.. Mine was 7990. I have the pulse ring and oil pump gears along with valve springs with a built bottom so I was prepared, the ecu just wont let it go higher

Yeah I topped out at 7750, 7990 is still quite an accomplishment though. That's the highest I have heard of on a GT. I bet you were making some HP.

according to this graph, the line levels out around 7k. Why run it another 700-1000rpms? Even at 6500 the line leveled out, so why not just shift at 7k and still be pretty close to your power band depending on how fast you shift

I guess to keep it in peak power? Shifting early means more rpm drop to the next gear.. if it makes peak power and holds it might as well ride it!

Cool, so did I buy the pulse ring for no reason if I have the manual trans? was always curious how that worked for high rpm.

on stick cars you are fine.. on the Auto cars you need that wheel if you want to go pass that soft limiter.

So, do the manual cars come with the "upgraded" ring already, or is that just an issue that doesn't effect the manual cars? It's weird to me that they would be internally different.
