Fed mandated all new vehicles be Ethanol compatible years ago.

Correct they've mandated it since the 80's. But only in amounts of 10-15% which is what normal gasoline is out of the pump.

Had Ford have built the mustang as a FFV there wouldn't have been a "No E85" sticker on the gas flap.

It amazes me that people with boosted cars still try to run E85 with only injectors and a BAP. They all want 700hp and are just plain playing with fire. If you want to run E85 , pony up the rest of the money for a full fuel system.

Have all the pumps gone out only on E85?

I'v been running E85@21volts (on a hob switch) on the stock pump for awhile now. Not saying some thing cant happen, but so far so good.

I'll been doing some testing on a new pump setup here soon.

We've seen several pumps fail in E85 with a BAP.

This is why we recommend a return style fuel system for most high (600+) horsepower E85 applications. The 465 pumps are specifically designed for E85 use.

This, Just spend the extra money and get it done correctly

"No E85" has to do with the size of injectors and fuel pump, not to mention the ECU programming.

Materials used in the fuel system are compatible with Ethanol, at any level.

F150 Flex Fuel fuel pumps, lines, tank, injectors are all the same materials as 5.0 Mustangs.

The "no E85" stickers is due to PCM programming. Not the systems compatibility

We have tests at ford to check for % of ethanol content for rough running, no start concerns, etc.

lets be real

Its not like these are flex fuel cars. Same thing happens if you put a 255 in E85 it will lock up. There is not enough oil in the fuel to lubricate the pump.

im not really sure about a 255 issues. ive been running 2 GSS342 in my car for 3 years on E85 and pump gas. so maybe because I swap fuels I don't have an issue.

As soon as I bought my 2011 I knew I wouldn't need the warranty... I modded the car the next day knowing it would void the warranty and knowing it might break. It's part of the game. We are pushing stock equipment past what it was designed to do. Anyone who doesn't under stand by doing this you run a risk of breaking something needs to stick with modding cars on a video game. I told Shaun I didn't want to blow my car up when I was on his dyno last summer and he said "don't worrie we got a trailer" I'm sure he knew that I knew it's part of making lots of useless power on a stock block. So I said **** it let the car scream knowing regardless of how safe the tune was that safe was just educated guess of what the car could handle. Thankfully Shaun wasn't trying to make my car make big power to show off. Instead he stopped and said that's good be happy and it's as safe as a 700hp can get. It's gambling you roll the dice with this shit

Omg you mean to tell me e85 killed of a fuel pump.....I don't care what has been tested for... e85 is nasty shit .....yeah great it makes power but I've seen a good amount of e85 rated equipment fail
So for shaun to put out an FYI we had an FP failure on e85.....ya don't say big deal....if it had been a strait gas car that might have been a surprise

We know that the fuel pump boosters that are on the market aren't the reason for the failure they have been out since the 90s and for the most part almost everyone I know including me has had them on multiple cars without issue's. Now if the issue is due to a design flaw in the hat that it doesn't like the added pressure well that's a diff story but if I had to guess that's not the problem either.
I know no one wants to admit it but it's the E85 doing the damage and in the next 6-12 months u will see even more failures. This so called magic fuel loves to attracts moisture and that water loves to corrode the inside of the pumps and anything metal in the fuel system. There has been talk that the new pumps in our cars can handle it but I'm not taking the chance.
I'm sticking with what I know works Torco accelerator to keep it safe on the street and race fuel at the track.

I've said this in every post where people ask about e85. According to Ford engineering e85 will kill the mustang fuel system . They won't give a time frame or what will go first but it will kill it. If you plan to run e85 do it right and swap the parts . Thank you Shaun for bringing this to light
