Mine was entertaining. Went to a Pizza in the late 80’s with my brother, ordered, received our food and were chowing down when the cook and the gym started to fight. It started when the cook threw a pitcher of soda in the GM’s face and then they threw down. Pizza pans, food, fists and more soda. It was live dinner theatre. The cops showed up, the cook got arrested and we got free dinner.

Worst experience was at PF Changs. My gf and I walked in and were told there would be a 45 minute wait. Another couple walked in 20 minutes later and sat down next to us. We made small talk for a while and eventually started complaining with each other after the wait went way past the original time we were told. At about the 1.5 hour mark the hostess calls the other couple to their table. I asked the hostess why they were getting seated before us and the hostess said that they gave the other couple a 30 minute wait time when they walked in and since theirs was shorter they get seated first.

After eventually getting seated we were put at the first table next to the hostess stand with everyone else who was still waiting standing over our table the entire meal.
Why would you wait so long to get seated anywhere, especially a chain place? F that.

A couple summers ago I was in AC with a chick & she wanted to try Ramsey's new restaurant in the casino. At least I think it was Ramsey's chain. We sat at the bar were given menus. No one ever came over & asked us if we wanted food or drink after that. We left about 10 minutes in. F them.

I just don't tend to have bad experiences at restaurants, and I go out to eat all the time. sometimes we will get reservations, sometimes not. I usually just go out with my wife, or another couple. I've found service is usually better for a small group. honestly, the best service tends to be at the bar. we tend to hit up a nice restaurant and eat at the bar. you're going to get the drinks right away, and as often as you want. I've also found bartenders will work a little bit harder because they know they are getting tipped on drinks AND food. at most, there's a 15-20 minute wait to be seated at the bar. no reservation needed. simply grab a drink, hover around the bar, and grab two seats when they open up. I've done this at every major restaurant in Chicago/Milwaukee, or anywhere I travel, and never had a long wait or bad experience. you can socialize with others at the bar, or ignore them.

the one bad experience I had doing this happened at Gibson's steakhouse in Chicago---eating late at night. super long story, I can elaborate--but that place is known for call girls showing up and soliciting at the bar. I had a prostitute using my napkin when I got up to use the restroom.

back to the op's story---I'd never let things get that far. if the restaurant is not full, and I'm not getting drinks within 10-15 minutes, I'm gone. you wouldn't invite someone into your house for a party, and ignore them for 30 minutes, so why is this even remotely ok in a service facility?

Did you catch her mid napkin use or were told after the corner dweller left?

Went to Smokey Bones, usually good for quick in and out. We were seated within 5 minutes, drink orders taken after 20 minutes. Drinks delivered 15 minutes later and orders placed. 40 minutes later, no salads, empty drinks, looked up price for drinks, left exact change and walked out.

I hope they gave you a new napkin. That's horrible. I'm thinking I would of lost my appetite at that point.

my wife caught her after she reached over and wiped her sloppy face--asked her wtf she was doing. I came back to the table and just stared at them until they apologized--it was a bit awkward. these girls sat at the bar for 2 hours, and had sliders and one drink. multiple dudes came up to them--they were clearly 'working'. at the end of the night, we left when I kept getting bumped into by this group of 4 idiots that kept talking to the girls. that's the one bad experience I've had eating at the bar, out of well over 100 times we've done it. we've eaten at some pretty legit places ($250-300) this way, and have never been disappointed with the service or experience. best part about it is we just walk in, without a reservation, and get awesome service. nothing sucks more than getting a reservation at a restaurant days/weeks in advance, and deciding that you don't feel like eating that food, or the time doesn't work

I've sat at the bar a couple times. We don't sit there often. But if it's busy then yes we will. There's usually seating for two. We were kind of at the mercy of what she wanted to do for her birthday. They made the reservations so we were along for the ride at that point. I had enough when the manager told me to switch plates with the guy sitting at the end of the table because he had my plate and I had his. As he's sitting there eating the noodles.

I always sit at the bar, as @kirks5oh said, very fast service as the bartenders have to be on their game.

And i cannot believe that bitch used your napkin....gross.......

I was at the airport few months back. My wife and I ordered an appetizer which was pretty good. My wife got a salad and I got a burger (it was a seafood restaurant...both of us know not to eat seafood at an airport though).

When my wife got her salad, the lettuce was completely wilty and disgusting. She pushed around, and there was an uncooked French fry and a 2 inch piece of raw bacon in the salad LOL.

She was so disgusted, she wanted to throw up the appetizer we just ate. I calmly finished my burger, we asked for the bill, and paid. The waiter asked my wife why she didn't touch her salad, and she showed him the raw bacon and French fry. He was so apologetic, but didn't offer any refund. We chalked up the $9.00 salad to a loss, not wanting to take the chance at getting a replacement. How the hell does raw bacon end up in a salad anyway? LOL

Wife and I went to a Bonefish Grille and were seated. We kept seeing servers walk by us several times with no one saying a word to us, mind you it was not busy. We must have waited 20 minutes with out any service at all so we left. Servers clearly saw us but not one attempt was made to serve us and we're pretty sure 2 servers laughed at us as we left. I don't know what their problem was but I tell everyone I care about to never visit that shit hole.

On the other hand, my wife and I went to an Italian restaurant called The Original Mama D's and had great service and we were really enjoying our meal when all of a sudden I noticed something strange at the bottom of my plate. I picked it up with my fork and realized it was a small screw. I kind of laughed but also realized I could have bit into that and hurt myself. I let our server know and he was just as shocked as I was and quickly apologized and removed my plate. I honestly was not mad and when the manager approached us minutes later he too apologized and comped our entire meal and explained that they found where the screw had fallen from. I told the manager that was very kind of him and that I would be more than happy to pay for my wife's plate as she was able to finish hers. He insisted we be taken care of and hoped this wouldn't deter us from visiting again. With service like this I would recommend anyone to try this place out.

Sounds like poor management. Servers typically only have certain tables. The server who had your table was likely cut, aka not getting more tables, thus in the back doing some small tasks before leaving or maybe even left....or maybe wasn't even at work yet if the night was early. The host wasn't properly informed that server was cut, and sat them. Other servers had the attitude of "not my table, not my problem"....not in a bad way exactly, but like cashiers at a grocery story, you only worry about your line. If a server caught on to you not being served, and looking angry, that's even more reason they are not going to help you. If they did, you could hold a grudge thinking they are just a horrible server and stiff them.

I've dealt with a similar setup at a past job. I had my tables. Someone is sat 3 tables down. That's not me. I saw them there, but that's it. 10 minutes later the host says, "Why haven't you gotten their drinks?" That's not my tables. "Oh, they wanted that table instead." So the host was an idiot and didn't tell me a table requested to be sat elsewhere. They were looking pissed so I told the host I'm not going over there until you or a manager goes and explains that I was never told I was to take care of them, and apologize. She did just that and got their drink order. I took the drinks out, apologized again, but they were not cool with me as they understood I wasn't the idiot.

Went to saltgrass few weeks ago and let’s just say service was extra slow and the food was tasteless. Needless to say I will never go back

I was down in an Atlanta suburb for training and went to dinner at a local steak house.

Ordered a rare prime rib.

Server said they were out of rare PR, would I care for anything else?

Got a steak, also rare.

After dinner, the manager came over and apologized for the lack of Prime Rib and gave me dinner for free.

I was shocked, but retained enough composure to ask what the meal would've cost.

Manager was curious as to why I'd ask.

I said I need to tip my server on that basis.

He told me what the total would've been, and remarked that I'm the only person he'd had that actually tipped on a free meal.

This was one of the issues we had along with just getting the wrong orders with the steaks. I ordered a steak that was suppose to be rare. It came out almost black. They did this 3 times all came back well done. When the manager finally came over after all the bullshit happened she says they are out of steak to order something different. That was the point everyone figured it was time to leave. I was pissed and hungry.

Chinese buffet some 17 years ago. Little fatty at the table next to us overloaded on soft serve and ended up chumming all over the table. The workers, best described like Charlie back in 'Nam, came out of the woodwork in a flash then cleaned and proceeded to disappear into the shadows even quicker. Naturally everyone at my table was grossed out except for me. I continued eating the general tso, mei fun, etc.., as if nothing notable happened. Upon reflection this was one of the best or at the very least one of the most fun times at a restaurant.

What steakhouse man? Like to check it out, and good on you - most people fail to realize it’s not the servers fault, and they shouldn’t get the repercussions.
