Anyone here listen to music or game with another brand/type of sound software other than what their sound card came with?

My sound card is a creative sound blaster Zx PCIe gaming sound card

My head phones are sennheiser hd8 dj

My software is sound blaster pro studio version 2.15.04 which is what the card came with or the update version on their site.

I haven't updated my rig in a while (2011) but just snagged a 295x2 from a friend for an amazing price (upgrading from my 6970HD) and upgrading my PSU to a 1000W to power my new card. Pretty excited to see what this can do. The rest of my stuff is pretty old but should still do the job.

i7 6700k, hydro h100i gtx, 32 gigs ddr4 3200, asus rog hero VII. 1 gig samsung ssd, gtx 1080, 27" asus rog 4k monitor.

Decided to build a new one with the release of the 1080 which is amazing, and for BF1, which ended up being a complete disappointment compared to bf4, imo. Can stream and play at 4k with 144 stable fps, highly recommend the 1080, worth every penny. But I wouldn't have built a new one had I known how awful BF1 would be.

I agree about BF1. My plan is to go all out for BF5! Complete new build with the latest. Really want that 1080p card and upgrade my 30" dell with one of those 4k curved 34" screens.

Built my new rig for BF1. Wasn't all that impressed with the game at first, but slowly starting to like it more and more. Using a 32" 1080p monitor but so far I'm very pleased with the performance of this build. 4k screen will come sometime soon.

Not sure your 1070 will fully handle 4k monitor running on ultra maxed out settings.
I'm looking to get a 1080 myself to replace the 970. My 4k needs more powar!

Honestly i'm not impressed with my 4k monitor over my 27" 1080p, and it was like $500 more then my 1080p. Maybe i'm just used to it now as well as gsync. 144hz and 1ms was important 4k was a bonus.

Strongly suggest waiting on 4K and instead running some 1440p, something like the ACER Predator X34 or ASUS equivalent, that monitor needs a beefy video card alone to run it.

I agree 100% I have the asus 27" PG279Q 165hz 1440p monitor and can't go back to 60hz lol Its so much smoother. Also G-sync is super nice to have as well.

Let me just stop you right there. Your rig is not capable of even maintaining BF1 on ultra in 4K@144hz. Ask me how I know. I have the same setup - [email protected] and I have a FE 1080 OCd to the moon, and its not getting near 144hz on ultra, especially while streaming any AAA title. Sorry. But as for 1440p, thats what this rig is for. I too have the asus PG279q 1440p 165hz gsync panel, and thats not too big of a chore to keep 144/165hz in this game, on ultra. Again for 1440p, not that magical 4k you speak of.

There is only one card. The new Titan XP that could keep 4k@60 stable on just about every AAA title game. And there are others it still cant. (Maxed out graphics we are talking about). GTAV Grass on ultra running 4k can still bring Titan XPs in SLI down to their knees. I have build 7 high end gaming rigs over the last 2 years, and the 6700k/1080 is best for 1440p. 4K on ultra for everything is still not attainable. Not for anything less than $4k worth of GPUs.

And this was my rig same as above, but with MSI 1070s in SLI. That was a 4k killer on most games, but SLI was sketchy and couldnt be relied on so I went back to a single card.

My previous rig was a 5820k/980ti. That rig was a monster for streaming, and held its own against my newer 6700k rig. Man I miss the 6 core setup.

Before that, another 6700k/980ti rig that I build for a friend. I played on it for a month to burn it in and get all the OCs right, then sold it.
