since this post started out about 600's here's my $0.02. About 3 yrs ago I had a '00 Ninja 6R and my buddy had a modded 300ZXTT. The perf shop said it made about 410hp at the crank. From a stop I took him off the line up to about 75mph, his car smoked me pretty badly from there though. and I was flogging my cycle pretty hard.

would this happen w/my CBR, I don't know b/c he sold the TT !!
I don't think so though, a 1000 pulls a lot harder than a 600 all over the powerband, including the top end. 600's seem to taper off at a certain point which is where high hp cars (like 450hp Cobras) can take advantage. hence guys saying they reeled in and beat 600's from a roll.

i have exhaust, CAI, Pully and Chip and i walk 600's all the time. 600's fall flat on there face at 100mph.

I have a hard time believing that. Its more like 130-140 that they start to fade.

We shouldn't even try to compare the two. Bikes (newer 600cc, 1000cc and up ) are in another league. They are just plain stupidly quick and ridiculously fast. Have any of you ever read the article where they had a Corvette (forgot what kind and year) race a GSX1000 from 0-100 and then back to 0. By the time the Corvette got to 60, the bike rider was taking his helmet off.

It was a Z06. They raced ona road coarse and the 0-100-0 thing. It wasn't even close. Car got owned big time.

The new 600 cc bikes are nuts for what they are. Mid 10's with a halfway decent rider. I ride a 04 10r and I laid waste to an 03 full bolt on Z06 spraying a 150 shot. It seriously wasn't even funny. we raced up to 155 or so. Well atleast that is where I stopped cause I was bus lengths ahead. These kill stories from cars that have under 450 whp are do to the riders being to much of a pussy to start off with the bike in a high rpm. The 600's pull hard all teh way to about 140 or so!

I agree....a 600cc bike does NOT fall flat on its face at 100mph. Anyone that says that has NO idea of the bike's characteristics. 2nd gear takes a 600 up to about 120mph. 2nd gear provides enough thrust to pull hard all the way up to redline. I would say that 600s start to *fade* around 130ish mph in 3rd gear.

Those that say "a 600cc bike falls flat on its face at 100mph" have raced a rider who does not know how to utilize an entire powerband.

a Z06 vs. a ('01/'02--forgot) GSXR-1000 from 0-100-0. The GSX-R1000 went from 0 to 100mph and back to a dead stop before the Z06 reached 100mph. LOL

Ever see where a bike mag took a Z06 and gixxer 1k to a road course because of the ego the older guys get with their Z06. The Gixxer 1k absolutely murdered the Z06.

from a straight line perspective, you better have as many rwhp as he has CC's if you want to win from a dig.. From a roll if you're going to 130+ you might not need quite as much.

Bottom line. Most 600cc bike's run 10's bone stock. Most modded cobra's only run 11's. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go. Of course there are exceptions to every rule. The majority of Cobra's have pulley's or ported stock Eaton's. On average 450-490rwhp. Not enough power to get it done.

LMAO have you ever raced a 600? i have prob. beat about 10 600s in my cobra...hell, my cousin has a 03 GSXR 750 with a slip on and a sprocket, and he didnt beat me too bad from 60-140, and in 4th gear, i was actually pulling on him

i think it depends alot on the bike also. ive riden and raced alot of bikes myself (on my bikes, havent raced a bike in the cobra yet)

i use to have an 04 r6, it was pretty quick, best friend has a 2002 gsxr 600 we raced alot. he weighs about 40 less than me and from a dig up till 6th gear its dead even, once he hits 6th it game over the older gsxr have no 6th at all i would literly just start running away and from riding his bike it obvious. we thought it was his bike untill i raced another 2003 gsxr and exact same results.

2004 gsxr much better, rider was about 20lbs lighter than me he pulled like a bike length from about 80-120 mph from 20-80 was dead even, 2004 gsxrs have a 6th gear also it keeps pullin.

636 was flipped around he pulled about 1.5 bikes from 40-100 after that he krept away gaining about 2.0 bikes total to 140.

gsxr 750 pulled like 3 bike from 40-100 then about 2 more from 100-120 after 120 its a lost cause the 750 starts leavin.

after i added 520 conversion (1 down, 1 up) pipe, power commander, v-stack, i raced the same 750 again.

from 40-80 i actualy pulled about .5 bike on him. from 80-120 he pulled about 1.5 bike now with a 1 bike lead. 120-140 he pulled another bike. after 140 my r6 would loose steam and hed start pullin away. but a huge difference from before. he even was shocked how my 600 was hanging. we raced 3 times with all the same results up to about 140 he only has a about a 2 bike lead maybe 2.5 before at 120 he was already about 5-6 bikes ahead and start leavin me quick.

so anyway be careful with 600's and espesialy if they change the sprockets. made a night and day difference on my r6. 6th gear was pretty quick on my R6 afte the 520 conversion and a 03 cobra from a 80 punch would have been no trouble at all.

oh and ive seen a brand new stock R6 run a 6.79 in the 1/8th (dont remember the mph) so take it for what its worth but that around a 10.7 in the quarter

And i bet he never even shifted into 2nd lol. my 04 zx-10r does 103 in first gear. most liter bike and up will do around 100 in first.

i disagree i shifted my R6 into 5th! at 125mph i hit 6th around 145 and 6th would pull to about 160 ish before the bike would quit pullin with about 500 more rpms or so before redline.

my 10r does 120 in second tho!

my 600 would pull like nothing to 120 then it would still pull hard enough to pull a 03 cobra to 130 from 130-140 would pull decent from 140 on up was a long pull!.

after the gears tho different story bike would scream to 135 easy, from there it slowed down a bit but still pulled strong up to about 150 were it fell off.

a geared 600 is a whole different bike, beleive me.

So much statistical information, so little real world evidence.

I raced a GSX-R600 about a week ago. He got about 2 bike lengths on me off the line- by the top of 4th he was at or behind my rear bumper. If the rider is at fault, there are a lot of bad riders out there- this is the 3rd bike of this caliber and speed and the results have more or less been the same- at the very, very least dead-even.

Id' be more than happy to try again for anyone in the OC area with a bike of the same caliber/speed- I have no other mods than those listed below. I get to tape it and post the results- regardless of outcome, from a dead stop or roll at any MPH, or both. PM me if interested. :)
