As others have said; I also think it looks much better with the bright red lights. I've never been a fan of the "blackout" look.
Had blackout on my cobra when i got it and swapped to 99/01 for the same reason. Just another reason to get pulled over
...and I'm the opposite. I really like the smoked look.
Then again, I also like the Raxiom tails that look like the S197 lights.
