It took me a week to even be able to stomach writing this to the community. Last Sunday, I was on my way home from a great day at some car shows down in Myrtle Beach. Met lots of cool car enthusiasts..
I was about 6 miles or so from home, riding with the top down. I was stopped at a red light on a stretch of 17N where the speed limit was 55. I look in my rear view mirror and only have time to thing, "Oh crap! (Another word was used)." A young girl who is believed to most likely of been texting or distracted by her phone slammed her VW Bug into me. Had to have been going around 40mph or so. No signs of an attempt to stop. She tried to lie and say her brakes went out but when they pulled her car around to the tow truck it stopped just fine in front of all of us. She moved the car forward quite a bit and pushed me into the person in front of me. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it still. Car is most likely totaled and I will be buying it back to part out. I will be keeping the rims and possibly the hood... Think I'll let everything else go. I'll make a separate thread for all that later. I'm hanging in there, got some medical stuff from it but nothing life threatening so that's good. Still, not only one of the 72 Comp Orange Convertibles, but one that had $$$$$ into beautiful one-off designs for body work. I will greatly miss this car. Didn't even get to enjoy it for 2 months.
