Most cities had trollies to the suburbs, until GM bought them all and shut them down in the '50s. I remember the tracks in my neighborhood (south KCMO) being abandoned by the early '60s.

That's a interesting bit of history. Bought them to shut them down so you'd have to buy one of their vehicles?
