Countless times ive walked into a autozone, advanced auto, napa, or carquest and asked for a part and said 2003 COBRA, And about 80% of the time i get asked "Oh is that a chevy?"

Has this happened to anyone here?

Side note - I only buy misc parts from those places.

I work at an online parts store. You wouldn't believe half of the stuff I hear or come across, both from co-workers and customers.

I have to almost go onto their computer for them and select parts... And dont even think about asking for a random part that isnt in the computer made to fit your car... Told them i needed a certain length belt, and they say ok what model and make... No i need this length belt its not stock for my car... Um. I dont know how to do that we cant help you. These days i try to get everything from my local napa, they seem to have much more knowledgeable staff.

I went into an Advanced Autoparts the other day to get a gas cap for our F550 work truck and whenever I asked the guy where they were he proceeded to tell me that they didn't carry gas caps. This was while he was standing in between me and the 20ft tall wall stocked with about 50 different gas caps..

The other day they asked me, oh cobra.. thats base model right. Im like wait what? no lol but you know if you as much as say that they will tell you they dont have the part. Ford always asks you for a VIN too but thats for accuracy

Come on dont you know the 5spd and 6spd depends how quickly the ALT spins making your bulb fiddigan pins come loose projecting light quicker. Its all written in the "Honda for dumbies book" Its a good read :rolling:

I normally walk to the counter and simply state "ford" wait for him to hit the key.."2003" wait again.."Mustang" wait again.."SVT Cobra" wait again "4.6 DOHC Supercharged" and then tell what i need. Started doing that long ago with my GT and just seems to speed up the process. Had 2 guys in Orielly's argue me out of the store saying all mustangs ever built had the same rear end(9 inch).

There all a bunch of freaken key punchers that only know what the computer tells them. I hate dumb lazy people that cant do there job. It makes my job harder. I even get lazy guys at the dealership parts, that are too lazy to get off of there asses and just want to answer phones all day. Whats this world coming too! Sorry for the out burst, this has building up inside me for a while and testorossa1989 has just lit the fuse, LOL

I also had to sit there and walk autozone through why my belt size will not match what their computer comes up with for my car multiple times

Well, not an autozone. At my local Ford dealer that I won't mention because Kieff & Sons Ford in Mojove California my find out couldnt sell me an intercooler pump for my 04 cobra. You may ask why? Let me explain. My intercooler pump started going slowing down, working only sometimes. So I decided to call my local Ford to see about geting a new one. I talk to a girl in the parts department who askes for the year make model. I tell her an 04 Mustang Cobra, need the intercooler pump. She tells me that she does not show it having one. I assure her that it does have one. The girl begins to tell me that it sounds like an aftermarket part that was installed by a previous owner......I explain to her that I am the original owner and that the 03-04 cobra's all came with an intercooler for the supercharger. She puts me on hold for about 5 min, comes back on the phone and tells me there is no such part. She explains that her parts manager has an 04 Cobra and it does not have nor ever had an intercooler pump. I'm like "thanks for your time and sorry for the hassle". Nedless to say I will NEVER go to that place again!

:dancenana: Hahaha had me cracking up!

No but seriously, my local "automotive specialists stores" just let me go in the back and find the part I need if I can't find it on the shelves. I'm just patient with them when I'm looking for something specific that isn't going to be on their parts list database, yet the new clerks (1 every other week it seems) asks for the year, make, and model I was looking to buy a part for that was part of a custom build....

I actually walked into autozone to get a IAT sensor. They told me they didn't carry them for my 03 cobra. Then the guy tells me they are 90 bucks saying that "He just had to replace his on his ranger and it cost 110". I then told him please just look it up, what do you know....IAT sensor for 03 Cobra only 20 bucks. Gotta love autozone....

I frequent Autozone and they all hate me.

YES! I cannot stand the morons that they employ at places like that. Just think you guys all have a consistent car to go off of, imagine trying to explain to them you have a supercharger from a cobra on your gt. "Well sir, your car is a sohc and what you're asking for is for a dohc" it's like dammit man just shut up and listen to me already!
