I'm not a very tall guy, about 5'8", and in my 97 GT I had swapped the shifter handle to this Roush kit, it made the shifter so much more comfortable to reach, 1st, 3rd, and 5th were so much easier.

(Im pretty sure its in 1st in this picture, in 2nd the shifter was much more over the console)

Is there anything like this that fits the 03/04 Cobra's? I'm new to the Terminator parts world, and I've not been able to find one..

Maybe there is something special about the Roush shift lever that makes it not play well with others...BUT...I believe that same shift lever should work on the terminator.
I don't believe the shifter bolt pattern is any different.
You could just get another shift knob..or thread on the terminator shift knob.

You could also look at the steeda comfort pro shift lever. It brings the shift knob back and closer to you thigh as well.

I tried everything available and had the same trouble. MY buddy came up with this design using the stock shifter. We made a 2" plate and welded it to the stock handle on an angle. This eliminated the rubber idolaters and put the shifter in the perfect position. Cheap and easy.

After looking at prostkr's picture, the Roush handle should fit just fine. The only problem with that kit is having to install the different shifter boot, which is a bit of a pain. I looked up the Steeda shifter lever, it seems to be shaped like the OEM handle, but has more of a forward bend in it? That might also work, would be easier to install anyway.

you'll like the steeda comfort pro shift lever..again..it brings the shift knob back..and also shortens the reach by bringing it closer to the thigh...like a road racer.

You can always add an extender adapter at the shifter bolts to bring it back an inch or two as well....no welding required.

I had some made to bring my custom shift lever back 2" and up 2".

Some of the guys on the forum may chime in...as many have had the adapter plates made.

I suggest you try the steeda comfort pro shift lever first and see how it works for you...it's a nice little piece...and it will fit the oem boot.

Huge aside:
I went custon shift lever because my seat/steering column is extended 4" back...I just sold my steeda comfort pro shift lever.

redline goods http://www.redlinegoods.com/ makes inexpensive boots, etc for those of us on a budget..or at least "used to."

Promotion makes a pretty nice piece that moves the shifter closer to the driver. No more banging knuckles in 3rd and having to reach for the shifter when cruising.

steeda comfort pro shift lever 2 picture by shurur - Photobucket

This is what I did before I had a shift lever custom made.

earico's template with yet more washers or a solid (steeda or other) tempplate with washers would work.

I eventually made a template that brought the shift lever back and up ~2"...before having a custom shifter made.

It is true though that the higher you bring the shift lever the longer your throws will get..

Let's see if this photobucket thing works.

That Steeda kit is cheap and I like the angled bolt pattern to allow you to best position the handle for your personal needs. I see, though, that it fits the Hurst & TKO 500/600 shifter with 3/8" bolts only. There is a Steeda Comfort Pro Shifter Handle available through Lethal Performance that works on the Cobra T-56 with all aftermarket shifters except the Hurst and MGW.

I have a MGW blue shifter lever in my car . It shifts very nice . It's all hidden under the boot and it is set back closer to the driver for easier shifts .

I know I posted this thread last year, but I see you replied! I actually got an MGW blue (well mine was black) shifter arm, and a sweet cue ball knob for Christmas. Its helped a lot! I think eventually I'll just get an MGW orange shifter, but this works great.

so the blue is longer than the orange? if so, im going to switch them out.
i dont see it on their website. is yours just a shifter arm that bolts to the stock piece?

Like others have stated, I also did the "shifter mod". Out of all the things I have done to my car, this is one of the best by far.

So without fabbing...is there a shifter kit that can be purchased? I have a mgw orange that came with the car it....I am also short so it is a royal pain to shift in any gear lol. I came from a '10 z06 where shifting was very easy. Does anyone make a complete shifter kit that comes back a few inches but also up a couple inches?

Thanks !!!!

I literally made my post a second before you did. I "fabbed" mine but it's literally a very easy thing to do. I knew the idea behind it and just went for it and on my first shot it came out mint.
