If the moon were that close and moving that fast, well we'd be screwed several times over. But it could only go that speed or try to orbit that close, not both.

Break out good ol "Universe Sandbox" and it's more optimistic.

Knowing that the Webb image covers a patch of sky about the size of a spec of sand held at arms length is mind blowing. The sheer vastness of the universe is impossible to comprehend.

It's already been tagged by debris so its a mirror down.. they said it can compensate for it but meh, now its not 100% anymore and it just literally unfolded and started. Good pics... sure but don't think its going to last long enough to make any real progress over its what 10 year? life span. Fun concept but pointless, we don't need to know whats out there because humans will never be able to make use of it so its a cash dump subject, not even enough resources on this planet to make an admirable fleet to even attempt to journey around out there within the time frame of this pathetic civilization has left. Everything is already dead that it see's so its no different than digging bones up, pointless, won't fix all that bs we have to deal with down here right now. Space is for fantasies if you try to make anything useful past our solar system. F JWST.. use those resources to what can help now and not star gazing on what can never be.

We are seeing those galaxies as they were 4.6 billions years ago. So before the Earth was around (4.3b).

Very cool. I'm not a physicist, but I am a chemist and this is very interesting to the big nerd in me. It's crazy to think of how long it takes for certain images to be visible to us. Their actuality is probably vastly different than what we are able to see at that moment, due to the time it took for that light/image to get to us. Crazy.

Yeah, it blows my mind that it takes years for light to reach us from distant stars. It is insane how massive the universe is and how many planets are in it.
