I stopped shopping at Dicks when i went to buy a shotgun for my brother for christmas. They had a good black friday deal on a mossberg pump. I was standing in line and forgot what gauge my brother had wanted so i called my dad and asked a simple question on my phone.. "hey was that a 20 gauge or 12 gauge? 12 gauge, ok good thanks". hung up my phone and the guy at the counter had been listening to me and told me he couldn't buy any guns. I said what, he said since i was questioning someone on the phone about something gun related I was not allowed to buy a gun from them. Never stepped foot in that shithole again.

The employee at Dicks was actually following the law to a T there. Straw Law. It is illegal to purchase a gun for anyone other than yourself. Under federal law, a person could face 10 years in jail as well as $250,000 in fines if they help someone obtain a gun by purchasing the gun on their behalf from a federally licensed dealer.

From Walmart’s website:

“In light of recent events, we’ve taken an opportunity to review our policy on firearm sales. Going forward, we are raising the age restriction for purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21 years of age. We will update our processes as quickly as possible to implement this change.

In 2015, Walmart ended sales of modern sporting rifles, including the AR-15. We also do not sell handguns, except in Alaska where we feel we should continue to offer them to our customers. Additionally, we do not sell bump stocks, high-capacity magazines and similar accessories. We have a process to monitor our eCommerce marketplace and ensure our policies are applied.

We take seriously our obligation to be a responsible seller of firearms and go beyond Federal law by requiring customers to pass a background check before purchasing any firearm. The law would allow the sale of a firearm if no response to a background check request has been received within three business days, but our policy prohibits the sale until an approval is given.

We are also removing items from our website resembling assault-style rifles, including nonlethal airsoft guns and toys. Our heritage as a company has always been in serving sportsmen and hunters, and we will continue to do so in a responsible way.”

———————————————

So because 17 people died in a mass shooting at the hands of a maniac, Walmart reviews their gun policy and further restricts 2A rights.

But when thousands of people in the U.S. die every year from alcohol related accidents, it wouldn’t be “responsible” to stop selling alcohol.

Different profit margin I guess.

And I was really wanting to buy a fully automatic semi-automatic rifle from there...

I really am thankful for many of you guys that understand how our country SHOULD be. If it wasn’t for here, I don’t know where I could relate to anyone on the web... so much millennial (don’t call ME one), liberal, CNN, socialist mindset everywhere else. I’m not even joking. Thank you.

One of my LEO friends just turned me on to a website with great prices on AR-15s. He told me he has put 2000 rounds through one of them he bought to try out and loves it.

I'll post the link only if Sid gives his blessing. Otherwise, hit me up in PM.

IMO the Dick's AR ban in no more than a PR stunt. They just want to act like they care to get liberals to come in and buy their overpriced merchandise.

What self-respecting enthusiast purchases a firearm or ammo from Dick's? Unless you are a fair weathered hunter (like the pollacks out here who go out one day a year and need Core-lokt 30-30 or 30-06) who goes there over a true firearm shop that has a selection Dick's can only dream of offering? The last time I spent money there was over ten years ago when it had a close out on factory Weatherby ammo. My stores only sell the common calibers and kit guns. Need .204 Ruger ammo? Nah. How about 220 Swift? Ha. Pretty much anything besides a .243, 30-30, 30-06 and .308 is not there.

No firearm sales to anyone <21, and no more ‘Assault Rifle’ sales. This will be a HUGE issue in the South....

Seems alienating a big portion of your customer base, would not be a wise business decision.

Bold play, Cotton.

How is it they can "choose" not to sell anybody under 21 a gun when the legal age is 18 and the liberals are fine with it, but if a bakery "chooses" not to sell a gay couple a cake then it goes to court and the baker gets sued?
