This is my first build of this caliber and i created this thread to show you guys what i started with, stages through the build, and how the outcome will be! Ive had 2 mustang's prior to this one and they've both been a blast. Bought my first one when i was 16, 2001 BULLITT with a Vortech v1sq supercharger kit that was installed by the previous owner. Sold it after about a year, just wasnt suitable for my needs at the time. Bought my *MINT* crystal white '97 cobra prior to this one and drove it daily for about a year until my cousin offered me more money than i origionally paid for it so it took it! Found my current car hiding down about an hour south of Atlanta, was only on its 2nd owner and had every reciept for the things done all except for the window tint and the weld-in flowmasters. Went 4 hrs down to look at it, paint was shot but it did run like a top and had a kenne bell sitting on top and i still feel i was paying basically Blue Book Value for it, so i brought it home for $6200. Here goes nothing............
The car was already slightly mod'ed when i got it.
BBK long tube headers and o/r H pipe with flowmasters and dumps
3.73 rear gears
Kenne Bell 1.7l
Steeda tri-ax short throw
some chinese 39lb injectors
KB boost-a-pump
and the driver mod :burnout:
<----the day i bought it
Right after i bought the car, LITERALLY DAY 2, i spun a rod bearing, chipped two pistons, took a chunk out of the side of cylinder #5, and shoved a chunk of piston through a valve. Completely my fault though, ran lean at WOT and i kept on digging! Was loaded with the SUCKY factory tune from kenne bell.
Called up MMR and had them build their 900SE 4.75L stroker motor, ARP everything, and put on a set of reproduction PI heads after they ported and polished them, also used brand new "stock" spec cams.
Painted the engine bay black while the motor was out.
Motor back in!
New short throw, Spec 3+ clutch and flywheel, and the F*n fast shift knob, AFS 9/10.5 wheels, Nitto 555r tires, SVT focus fuel pump and a few other things
Finally hit the dyno........9 months after buying the car and TONS of cash later
junk video of a run: 2001 Mustang GT Kenne Bell 1.7 - YouTube
Made 447/479 when i changed fuel pumps, just to get me by, and added FRPP 90mm mass air.
