Motorcraft filters are 13$ at the local parts stores. I remember when Walmart had them they were maybe 5$ after tax. The price of quarts of oil is insane, I’d rather just do the 5 qt jugs.

Walmart had 5 qt motorcraft synthetic blend jugs for $22 and change a piece last week. Ordered 6, they shipped 5 and gave me a refund. Got filters on Amazon for the aforementioned normal price

I used to run that Motorcraft 5w-50 liquid gold when I had the RS. $12.xx from Ford. Can't imagine what it is now. I think it was used in the GT350/500s too so maybe one of those guys will chime in.

5w-50 was the oil of choice for the 5.4L GT500(2011) engine.

Maybe not the best deal but it comes as a package - great for anyone still wanting factory oil, and they offer about all kits for fords! Normally when i order from them i get in a couple of days.

Do you folks who do it yourself have a local used-oil disposal center?

I remember as a kid my dad would always dig a hole in the backyard, dump the used oil, and cover it up. 3 times a year for many years. You had to be careful not to step on a new burial ground.

All our parts stores have them, plus I’m a 10min drive from the county recycling center. Interestingly, the parts stores always ask if it’s just oil I’m dumping, so I asked at the county where to dump trans and brake fluid and they said the same tank as the used oil.

Funny you mention the backyard dumping. My dad would do the same - always said the next person that owns the house would start digging and think they struck black gold!

$213 to change oil and filter, rear end and transmission. All Motorcraft, but I run it through the shop and get a discount.

Went to O'Reillys Autoparts site & used promo-code "HEAT20" and ordered a case of Motorcraft 5W50...
Same here, after discount, STILL $8.39 a quart.
At least I got "free" shipping & will be here on Tuesday...
