02 SS vs. Roush Mustang

I think 100rwhp is about right between an LS1 @ GT. My friends 2000 GT with CAI @ Catback only put down 232 rwhp. My other friends 2000 SS with Lid @ Loudmouth ran out 334 rwhp @ 339rwtq on the same day. For a GT to be able to outpower a stock LS1 from a roll race it needs FI or Internal Work, IE ported heads, cams, etc. There's guy that posts on LS1.com with the above mods, heads, cams, longtubes etc that makes around 290-300rwhp NA and he has a hard time with stock and lightly modded LS1's. If were talking about track races thats another story as a car with less power but better traction and shifting can outrun a more powerful car with less traction.

I got my horsepower ratings from a LS1 Performance mag that I picked up b/c the cars do interest me. I have it in my room and I will look at to again to make sure Its LS1 and not the LT1. I am 99% sure it is LS1. I would look right now but I am at work. And I still do not believe the 100hp a GT gives to a LS1.

Than you my friend are wrong!:nonono: ..I own a 2002 5 speed GT and can honestly tell you its true..more or less...my GT put down 225 RWHP stock...while some SS ls1's put down like 305-315!:shrug: ....might I suggest!:read:

This is exactly what I think.


Now, I have yet to be beat by a 99+ GT or a 99-01 Cobra but I don't believe beating the 99 and 01 Cobra was reality. Any decent driver in those cars should get me. I'm pretty confident I can beat the 99+ GT's but everyones experience is different.

Stock 4 stock 99+Gts and Lt1 Zs are a drivers race. Ive ouned a 93Z myself and still think its a toss up between the 2 cars. I believe the GT and least my 02 when it was stock was a little quicker (launched much better). Now I also for a short period had a new 04GT and it was much slower then my 02 when it was stock.

It's sort of what Jack Roush does. The only thing I don't know is whether or not Ford will back a Roush for warranty purposes.

Phase I is 380hp/400lbft of Torque. 3.73 gears, 1.5" drop plus other exterior enhancements

Phase II gets a 435hp (rwhp) 4.10's, SFC's (sub frame connectors) You lose the warranty here, due to emissions.

Phase III, or commonly referred as the ZL1. $95K 427 C5R (corvette race engine) 600hp, Z06 brakes/tires, 4.56 gears, roll bar, etc. Plus a bunch of signatures.

380SS: You should come up to Bandimere sometime, I've heard the track is much nicer than Pueblo's. Every wednesday is open test 'n tune.

Some friends and I are heading up on the 26th. Lots of nice cars and lots of fun. At 5900' you'll be suprised at what kind of times you run. My first run ever at a track brought me a whopping 14.3@102 in my stock Cobra, while the Yenko next to me ran a 12.8. Granted that was with a 2.4 60' on crappy yokohama's, and granny shifting to boot.

All the same this altitude sucks!!!!! :cryying:

Everyone of those cars are freaking slow until you dump some money into them. Yes even the stock 03+ Cobra is lame without mods! But it is going to kick a stock LS1 in the balls!

I think everyone is going off in their own direction.
380SS had a good street race and was telling about
it, Good race Good Kill. ScaryGT says a GT with the
right mods can be fast HE IS CORRECT, not all cars
are created equal some ARE faster than others. I love
all muscle cars and I am not brand loyal.this is a list
of my last few muscle cars.
99 Camaro SS 327 HP 6 spd Huggar Orange
01 Mustang GT 5 spd Zinc Yellow best et 14.40 Bone stock
02 Firehawk conv 6 spd 345 HP triple Black
03 Cobra 6 spd Redfire met
The Camaro is the only one that I feel could have given
my Cobra a close race. all the cars were stock.
BTW a friend here in St. Louis has a Phase 2 car in Huggar
orange to match his 69 SS and his 02 has 3 miles on it
and he has no intention of putting any more miles on it.
