The Dearborn, Mich., automaker said Friday it is moving 1,400 of the 2,100 hourly employees at the Lightning plant to gas-engine factories and other operations, reducing to one work shift, from two. Some workers are expected to take retirement packages negotiated as part of a recent deal with the United Auto Workers union.
How does watching all those Chicago Tesla owners freeze their ass off for hours/days trying to get a charge not affect EV sales anywhere it gets cold in the USA? Or better yet, being told not to buy an EV if you don't have a heated garage!?!
I'm sure it DOES! There are tons of EVs unsold and sitting on dealer lots. There's a reason for that. The majority haven't bought into it full-well knowing the downsides at this point. Especially in the northern parts of the country.
I suspect after this winter and as the stories get out that EV sales are going to take a decent sized dip.

The resulting heat is converted into electric energy and stored in a connected Battery Storage Module, or BSM. That energy can then be used to charge battery-electric vehicles, construction equipment, and portable power tools throughout the job site.
If you have an unheated garage and put an EV in it, just a matter of time before you will have a heated garage. (temporarily anyway)
It is funny that EV owners say this has been a harsh winter, it has actually been a mild one. Wait until we get a real winter that starts in OCT and goes until APR like 2014-15.

Based on owner responses for more than 330,000 vehicles, the survey found that EVs from the past three model years encountered 79% more problems than conventional vehicles.
