And it's worth every penny. Lower MSRP than the 03/04 Cobras and a better over all car. This is not considering inflation too

I'd love to be able to buy a brand new car but dont ever see it in my future. New car prices are just ridiculous and you just lose your ass on it. That same convertible will be a $20,000 car or less in 5 years.

here in GA i saw a new 5.0 auto gt vert for 41,xxx and thought it was too much. Its a mustang, for 41k Id expect a little more but maybe thats just me. With taxes and everything your looking at a 45k dollar car out the door. Mustangs seem like a younger person type of car to me and i dont know to many people who are under 21 that could afford a car payment on a 40k+ car. For that price id expect a higher model version not just a gt vert

agree, young people are finding it hard enough to get jobs let alone new mustangs, the majority of fords market must be moving to people in there lower to upper 30's

Negotiate for lower than MSRP.

if/when you walk and dont get the car, it wasnt meant to be, or they didnt want to make the sale. However with a hot item, im sure they have a waiting list for it already.

Though iirc MSRP wasnt supposed to go up much, if at all, for a '11 GT. Dont see how a Vert adds $8k to the ~31k Coupe MSRP.

its getting ridiculous. no one believes me that the 03/04 Cobras stickered at mid to high 30s.

The '11 GT is better handling, just a few ticks slower (maybe), and 10000x more refined chassis-wise, while still being the same price. I don't really see what the problem is.

Not even. Back in 03, one of the local dealers couldn't even move a vert and had it marked down to 32. Inflation is a bitch.

the car is great no doubt about it, but like everything cars and houses continue to rise as well as inflation, but salaries have not kept up and many have gone down, the two seem to be moving in opposite directions

yeah i dont get it either.

prices of everything is increasing, yet costs of manufactured goods are dropping to keep selling to distributors, employee wages are all on a freeze, even in companies that are still posting profit gains (and sometimes even record ones) and not letting that trickle down to middle america.

I think soon the standard of living in america is going to take a big step backwards, as families are struggling with ever increasing taxation, increased costs, and no increase in pay (and most cases, decreases due to layoffs), not to mention employee morale is at an insane all time low, its almost slavery, people doing the jobs of 5 positions that have been let go, still asked to do each 100%, and absolutely no bump in pay for the increased responsibilities. I know a few that are blindly working themselves right into either the looney bin or a grave, justified by "well, i still got a job".

I remember the sticker price for my 1995 Mustang GTS was $16,900...back in March of 1995. Granted, it was a GTS, a no frills, basic car so it was a bit less than what a regular GT went for, around $21-22k as I recall. Of course it's no longer 1995, it's 2010 and we have a new car that offers much more than the old GT did.

I tell ya though, I'm not a big fan of buying new anymore. IMO, I made a mistake of buying my C6 brand new in 2005. It was $51,000 plus tax, title and license. It depecriated rather quickly, like most cars, not worth the new car smell I think. In March of 2006, I was looking for a Tahoe or Expedition. I found an 05 Tahoe with everything in it, all leather, CD/DVD, aftermarket rims, etc...that was $54,000 brand new. It was used with just under 1900 miles on and I got it for $34,000. It still smelled brand new. I'd rather go that route than pay full price but that's just me.

It is pretty hard to stomach the fact that a base gt will cost you a $500 a month payment and a base gt vert will be over $600 a month. I read somewhere that a vert is a $5000 option. In 04 a vert was somewhere in the $2-3k range. Then you have to add another $200 a month for insurrance. Buying a new mustang gt is in the same payment range as a buying a home or condo in the low $100s range.

Yes, for the money you're getting a lot of equipment, and you CAN go with a non-Premium packaged GT for a bit less. But even a regular GT isn't cheap. You're still looking at over $30K. What bothers me is that the Mustang GT was always an affordable muscle car for the younger set. No longer. You're now paying for a Premium GT what you'd pay for a mid-luxury car. Now your choices (for a V8) are expensive (GT), more expensive (Premium GT) and very expensive (GT500). It would be a no-brainer choice for me. Pass.

For the level of equipment on the car that doesn't seem like a bad price to me. Nav, HIDs, and EATC all cost money. If you're willing to do without those niceties you can get in one for a lot less.

Going by that, my GC should have been more than $40k b/c it's got more options than a Mustang GT.

Exactly.......You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want a loaded Convertible with premium interior, a shaker 1000 stereo, touchscreen navigation, sync, 19inch wheels, etc, etc you're going to have to pay for it!
