Damn someone replied before I logged off.

Listen, do I think this car has some quarks(sp). Of course! What first year car doesn't. I still say its a remarkable value for the price and performance. Is it a better value than Z06, I'm not sure. But the people who own both cars say it is.

I can't see how.
Z06 is cheaper, faster in a straight line, and on a real track with real street tires, it's just as fast!

Hell, we probably have met and race before. I'm not like this in person. You can ask the people that I hang out with on this forum. They know I like to stir the pot, especially with the ones who can't take sarcasm. I'll be at FoxnHound on 249 this week. Feel free to come. There might be a couple of Cobra owners up there.

Some cobra owners beating some GTR ass like a drunk prom date!

25psi, you go to realize that the majority of the people on this site that are bashing the GTR actually like or love Skylines in general they just state what they see, and what we're seeing is a flawed and overrated car. If this car was a real evolution of the R34 it would have been badass but Nissan really screwed it up by putting too much technology in it for the US. We like technology here but we like hp more and cars that can put it down reliably and efficiently for the most impressive times.

You have to expect the reaction you're getting as every time you post you are trying to rub it in everyone's faces. Face it the GTR is not going to beat the Corvette or Mustang at it's own game, they've been doing longer than Nissan has been around! Nissan had a car that competed in the past Skylines but they seemed to have taken a step backwards when they tried to cram a bunch of technology into a car to try and impress everyone.

Some of you guys are making an elephant out of a fly. This car was a test mule for this Samurai racing team or whatever they're called. They openly stated that they were going to see how fast they could go with a 100% stock trans. If it didn't break at 10.5, it would have broken sometime or another since they would have kept going faster and faster.

This is the first time a production street car has used a rear mounted dual clutch system. That is race car (road race) technology for those of you who don't know. It works incredibly well around a track and that is what its designed for. Race cars with this kind of setup aren't meant to be launched over and over from a standstill.......that is how you break shit plain and simple. This is a brand new arena for everybody so it will take a while before the weak points in the transmission are analyzed and the right countermeasures are available. I don't know of any terminators with a completely stock drivetrain that have survived 100+ launches on drag radials running 10.5. Something will break. Those of you saying the GTR trans is crap because a GT500 can do 10's on a T56 are beyond retarded. If you even had an elementary understanding of the engineering required in a trans setup like the GTR, not to mention its revolutionary awd system, you'd shit your pants. It is the first production car of its kind. Give it some props for running a friggin 10.5 on stock parts.

Not to mention that you can count the number of documented trans failures on stock GTRs on one hand. There are dozens of japanese and american tuners that have had zero trans problems with modded 600hp cars using them as test beds for parts development. I agree that Nissan screwed up with the LC warranty issue. They are fixing that for future models. But its like one GTR trans fails and the entire domestic community goes apeshit. You guys are worse than a sowing circle.

Finally, a smart post.

So this car has over 600hp and over 100+ launch control usage(with drag radials) and you people consider this shitty? Typical redneck ideology!

Put some slicks on your car and launch it at 4500 rpm over 100 times and see what breaks. You idiots seem to forget that you are comparing an awd car to rwd. But you imbeciles can't decipher shit with brains the size of mosquito nutz.

you do realize that most of the guys that are running IRS that are on all of the top lists...aren't built...riiiight?! they do the necessary work to help prevent wheel hop, of which SLICKS are included, and a lot of those guys don't break. and when they do, it's not a $20K transmission it's a $150 halfshaft lmao...which can be changed in an hour.

take that as you may, but every car is going to have it's weak spots. HOWEVER, not being able to use "Launch Control" on a "performance-oriented" vehicle without voiding warranty or blowing it the **** up is just plain stupid engineering to me. The stock half-shafts of a Terminator weren't meant to take 600+HP and (nice round number for average) 3500-3600lbs. 60' in 1.5 seconds. However, if i drop ANY money on a car, and that bitch won't hold together from using something to help me drive the car better...it's useless and not worth what was paid for it.

Yes something may break, but it wouldn't be a 14k tranny!

I have to agree on this one. I'd toss in the ZR-1 monster, but the price of admission is too high. ;-)

Wow. The hate in these threads are unbelieveable.

All of us that race, whether it be quarter mile or ORC, have broken something at one point or another. Shit happens that none of us can control.

If someone were to hand me the keys to a GTR I would take in a second as I am sure most of you in this thread would.

Seems that PSI is stirring the pot and he is catching a lot of fish.

It is clearly obvious why this transmission failed. With a name like Samurai Speed, why wouldn't it fail.

Are Samurais known for their speed?

10.5@128 is definately making the most out of that MPH, thats encroaching bugatti veyron territory almost 20 mph off the pace. Can't hate on that... buuuuutttttt....

If you don't want anybody comparing their rudimentary drivetrains to the almighty GTR's, don't bring up the direct comparison in the first place :D

so this car weighs 3900lbs, pulls 1.4 60' times, and mid 10's, and DESTROYS nearly any production car around a race track....

Only on svtperformance will the jealous rednecks say thats "fail".

What you guys dont realize is the fact that Nissan designed the GTR with the slightest of tollerances. It is litterally built on the razors edge. The slightest change to the car could produce a massive catastrophic system failure. If you notice, the car seemed to run and launch fine. I think it was the added weight of 25psi hanging on it's nuts that was the breaking point.

When your mustang breaks at the track how much does it cost on average to fix it? You could blow your motor, transmission, and rear end and still get it fixed for less than the trans on the GTR...the one that breaks when you use the performance buttons that NISSAN INSTALLED.
