I have a black vert DD. And it never see's a garage with no issues at all. I'm not a coupe guy. I like it better both for looks top up and top down.

Coupe... Convertibles don't really do it for me. Heavier, look great with the top down but look like hell with it up.

I recently sold my vert for my coupe and i can honestly say im missing my vert,My cars pretty much a weekend warrior and a little track use here and there. I wish i would have just slapped a whipple on the vert still been able to cruise with the top down on these warm southern nights, But there are also alot of things i like about my new low milage ride. It would be awesome to have both!!

Well, I know this thread is old, but I get the gist that most of you 'vert guys are only voting for 'verts based on the fond memories of your fair weather driving experiences.
I'm genuinely curious, how about addressing the following "real world" issues that no one in 4 pages of posts seemed to address:

1)Interior noise with the top up versus a coupe, ie the sound of wind rushing over the roof?

2)Cooling/heating the car in a 'vert versus a coupe.

3)The stereo. The rear speakers are intentionally placed beneath the rear window on most cars for sound reflection. The 'verts have them behind the driver in the side panels.

4) Trunk storage for a road trip. Can the top even be put down then?

5) Your interior. How's it holding up to the elements? Oh, and I won't even ask you if it still smells new.

6) Last but not least, I don't care where you are from, two dudes in a top down 'vert looks a little suspect, if you get my drift.

I have addressed your issues. It's obvious you have never been in a vert before.

I'm genuinely curious, how about addressing the following "real world" issues that no one in 4 pages of posts seemed to address:

1)Interior noise with the top up versus a coupe, ie the sound of wind rushing over the roof? you can barely hear it.

2)Cooling/heating the car in a 'vert versus a coupe. no difference. In fact it's probably better because there's less glass to heat up/cool down

3)The stereo. The rear speakers are intentionally placed beneath the rear window on most cars for sound reflection. The 'verts have them behind the driver in the side panels. I think it's loud enough and I have Magnapacks and an X pipe

4) Trunk storage for a road trip. Can the top even be put down then? What? The trunk has nothing to do with the top

5) Your interior. How's it holding up to the elements? Oh, and I won't even ask you if it still smells new. still looks like new. smells fine and I don't like that plastic smell that Mustangs are notorious for anyhow

6) Last but not least, I don't care where you are from, two dudes in a top down 'vert looks a little suspect, if you get my drift. Never been accused of being gay with friends in the car. Grow up :nonono:

I've always thought coupes look better than convertibles; somehow missing the whole roofline makes the car look different and less aggressive to me..

Plus I would feel a little wierd having everybody looking at me if I was in a vert top down..

No I don't ride in 'verts that could be why I asked the questions:??: I appreciate your insight and like I said no one addressed em. Oh by the way, 'vert trunk 8 cu ft versus coupe 9 cu ft. Look this isn't a contest, I just asked questions that weren't addressed. Thanks for answering them, but I am sure you knew that the top took up SOME trunk space, right?

Well your last comment was rediculous so that's how I took your entire post. If that's not how you meant it then so be it. Yes you lose a little trunk space with a vert, but who cares? Whatever space I lost there I can put the top down and haul that way. I've hauled everything from 10ft lengths of 2x4's to plasma tv's. It's really not that bad.

Actually, the interior noise on these cars is more quiet than they have right to be. My 89 GT Vert was LOUD, this car is very quiet.

I drive both all the time, they both are very awesome, but there is nothing that beats cruising around with the top down in 74-84 degree weather. =) I mean granted, I have an aftermarket stereo and its very loud and clear at highway speeds, but even stock, I think it was a blast. These are just great cars, IMO.

I'm in this dilemma as well. I am in talks with someone about trading my coupe for his vert. I don't really race my car but I've never been a convertible person (probably because I've never owned one).

Do any of you vert guys ever experience any problems with the top? as far as going up and down, something not working right, cleaning it, etc?

I'm on my second vert. Have owned them for the last 7 years. Not a single problem with the tops operation. Never used anything but soap and water to clean the top either. It's easy to maintain. My car is never garaged and it rains, heavy pollen and you name it in NC.

I have had my 01 vert from day 1 over 7 years running now with absolutely no problems with the top. There is something to be said for driving in the rain with the sound of the drops hitting the canvas, quite relaxing lol. During sunny days (almost everyday :D) its great and relaxing once you're out of the office and can drive home with the top down, wind and sun. :)

If you are shy then you may not like all the women looking at you when you have the top down :D

If you arte planning on racing your car then you really should get a coupe for the strength and stability of the chasis. I drag race mine and used to have bad wheel hop because of the flexing of the frame and the IRS. I eliminated it with subframe connectors and eibaugh springs. Still for NHRA rules there is a ET limit where they require you to have a rollbar/cage once you get too fast.
