The cop was wrong for going over the top, but he likely faces smart ass kids like this day in, day out. Sad that parents have lost the will to properly discipline their kids. Many parents are afraid to even spank their kids for fear they'll be charged with child abuse. So we have a whole generation who mocks generally all authority and is lacking in discipline. Not the generation, of course. But many. Sad. What ever happened to being asked by someone to stop doing something that is either damaging or might injure someone, and simply abiding by it? Doesn't have to be a cop, either. Could be a building maintenance supervisor, a teacher, or even a PARENT.

^ Yup, I skated when I was younger... everyone skates where they are not allowed b/c that's where the good spots are. If we saw a cop like this we would just all lose him quick. This guy is just bitter and probably has issues at home with his wife.

DUDE!

the kicker this kinda shit has been happening forever... it's not until recently that we have a video camera small enough, cheap enough that the masses capture this behavior and it's getting exposed more and more.
Checks and balances I say. LEO's keep us inline, the camera keeps them in line. It's about time.

They were skating where they weren't supposed to, and the kid wasn't showing him any respect. I don't agree with him wrestling him though.

The problem with your statement is the fact that the city of Baltimore has yet to provide a facility for the growing number of skateboarders in the area. Skateboarding as a sport can no longer be ignored. Cities never cease to amaze me, they continue to build multiple facilities (tennis courts for example) that go unused and have yet to answer the communities' plea for a single public skatepark. Cities/municipalities can no longer use insurance as an excuse since most every state in the union has general statutes in place to allow municipalites to build such facilities without insurance concerns. Now I'm not say that all skaters will stop riding "off limits" spots, but it would help avoid sitiuations like those seen in the video.

Here's a link to the group that's been trying to get the city to step up and provide such a facility. http://www.skateparkofbaltimore.com/about2.html

Some of you are ****ing crazy. How can you side with a piece of shit cop like that? I have a lot of respect for cops, but they're not all good people. You're allowed to curse a cop, you're allowed to flick off a cop, and you're even allowed to talk shit to a cop if you so had the need to; just no threats. Guy is clearly drunk with power pushing that little kid around and choking him like he was. Somebody needs to drive that little electric golf kart of his right up his ass.

I always used to hear the saying when I was younger "if you want to be treated with respect you treat others with respect." But I never understood when an adult disrespected you first, then in theory, why should you show them any respect? It's a two way road, one that this cop doesn't understand.

By what the video shows it seems like the cop showed very little respect from the beginning. All the kids were polite and the one kid said he just didn't hear the officer.

I will not show an officer respect if he comes up to me ranting and raving from the very start, on the other hand if an officer is civil about the situation then I will apologize and thank the officer.

I also just love how these people stereotype "skateboarders" into something bad..............I skateboard. I'm almost 22 years old, I'm no punk, I've never had a ticket of any kind, and I've never been to jail. Guess I broke this stereotypical trend huh?

your point? you make your bed, you sleep in it. in other words, he chose to be a cop there, so it's no excuse that because the area sucks he gets to be a jerk off.

Meh, maybe he'll get shot in the face with a shotgun one day....and live. That should teach him. POS slob.

It would have been great if one of the kids smashed their trucks into his face after he touched the kid.

+1. Trucks are solid and heavy! I'd rather go for the knees though.
