To think, Jeff, that you've been Terminatorless for almost 12 years. I remember it well. Do you miss it at times?
Hey OP, how many miles are on your car now?
If I was go your route, on a vert, I would do Ruby Red or Rapid Red. I think these two colors highlight what happens when you tweak a great color like Redfire and make it even better.
I do like grey, but not for my cars or car payment.
I had really bad orange peel on my 2004 Terminator. Clear was so thin that it burned through immediately when I had it wet sanded. So, in the end I had it stripped down and repainted with better quality paint. It looked amazing when finished, and I was able to sell it at 6 years old for what I originally paid for it off of the showroom floor.
Hello 1Kona. My Vert has 77K miles on it now. It had 75K when I bought it in 2016. I have already repainted the hood because when I bought the car the hood looked like the car was driven behind a gravel truck.
If you've seen my 65 Mustang build thread you will notice I'm partial to red too LOL....

Thank you Hissman! That's what I was wondering when I made this thread. Glad to know you sold a repainted Terminator no problem. I'm assuming you had your car repainted in its original color?
My paint isn't terrible, but could use some help. I think I could make it look great even if I repainted it Silver Metallic.
Don't know if I'm ready to do a blend job just yet, but I'm getting there.Damn Glenn sounds like you could paint my Race Bronco hood now like a pro!

Lol, I don't mention it much around here Geoff, but I bought the vert to use as a doner car for my 65. Once I got the vert home and my wife drove it she said I wasn't touching that vert lol.Well first off, drive that car more! I know the 65 is taking all your time but… they are too fun to let sit. My thoughts are if the paint is crap then re paint whatever color you want. There is a guy on here that has a wrapped burnt orange color that’s GORGEOUS! Also you could match the 65 in color or a darker ruby red that looks amazing too. In this market I don’t think a color change would hurt, especially with your quality of work and level of OCD. Having a different color may attract new buyers, but there will always be someone willing to buy if it’s the original color as well. You should think about it while doing a burnout in the cobra. Since you have year round driving season down there.

From my perspective it needs to be done right one of 2 ways.
1. Stock color with full jambs or cut off in an unnoticeable area like a bend or seam.
2. Non stock color, full jambs 100% correct. This includes the engine bay and even covering the over spray that ends up on the crash bars front and rear. No corners cut. You don't want it to look like you cheaped out.
Along with #2 it needs to be a color that will age well. That green car you posted does not fit that bill IMOP.
Colors like destroyer grey do not work IMOP without dark wheels and black accents on the car. Chrome anything makes that color look dull.
Also at what point in your 65 build thread do you get into painting your own car? I ask because I am doing the same this year on my GT and am always interested in picking up tips from home gamers like myself.
Yeah, I had a 2002 Infinity QX4 (used) after I sold my Cobra. I loved that SUV, except for the 3-speed auto + overdrive. I loved my '14 Mini Cooper S (it was just a lot of fun with a tune, and it was new), my 2019 Genesis G70 (fund and it was new), and now my 2022 Genesis GV70 (which is loaded with fun and useful features). The GV70 is my by far favorite and it's new! LOL.There are time that I wonder...what if, but new vehicles are soo nice..haha!
i'd consider a car that was repainted it's original color or a custom color.Hello everyone,
I have a 2003 SVT Cobra convertible that is silver metallic. I probably will not keep it forever and I will not pass it down to a family member. So, that means I will most likely sell it at some point in the future.
From being around this community for many years I know that most folks do not prefer convertibles and they do not prefer the color silver. So, I have a double whammy going against me in the sellers market.
Those of you who have been keeping up with my 65 Mustang build thread know I'm getting pretty good at painting. I really do not use my vert and would have no problems if it were undriveable for a while.
Therefore, I was thinking of making that car my next project. I wouldn't change it mechanically or anything. I would just take it apart and re-paint it a different color. I would do everything (i.e. engine bay, door jams, trunk jam, etc.).
So, these are some questions I would like your guys opinion on:
1. Even though it's silver should I keep it the same color for originality purposes (if I kept it the same color I wouldn't bother re-painting it as the paint is decent)?
2. Would you purchase a re-painted (different color) Terminator?
3. Do you think the value would go up, down or remain the same for a re-painted Terminator (We all know the color does play a factor in the sale of a Terminator)?
4. If you think a color change is a good thing, what color would you paint it (i.e. factory color (MC, CO, SB) or a custom color. I've seen Grabber Green and Destroyer Grey)?
I do not plan on doing this any time soon, but have been thinking about it and weighing my options on this topic.
Appreciate any feedback or insight you guys have on this issue.
I couldn't find any Verts painted a different color. Hence this thread and my idea.

Custom Color
That's what I was wondering. How many people think a Terminator color change is a no go.i'd consider a car that was repainted it's original color or a custom color.
I would not consider a car that was repainted an "other than it's original'' Cobra color.
A Redfire cobra repainted Sonic Blue would be a no go for me.
Still I think original paint, even with blemishes, is more valuable.
I like both greys, personally. That's what I was wondering. How many people think a Terminator color change is a no go.
Yeah, in your example I don't think I would go for that color change either, but there are some Terminator colors people really just don't want.
I think yellow is at the bottom and silver is just above that when it comes to desirability.
Some people like the Mineral grey, but I've never liked it. Too much of a brownish tint for my liking, but others love it. Now DSG is where it's at for me. Love that color on a Terminator.

And that right there is exactly why I made this thread. Because there is no way I'm doing all that work for nothing LOL.I guess the question is, even though I understand you're capable of doing the work, what's a nice paint job worth and can you get that amount of value back from it?
And that right there is exactly why I made this thread. Because there is no way I'm doing all that work for nothing LOL.
I would rather take a small loss because the original color isn't desirable rather than taking a major loss because no one wants to pay for a color change Terminator after all that time and money is invested.
So you are expecting someone to pay more for a repaint.
In that case it better not be an OEM color and you'll just have to find the right person.
But even then, I don't think anyone will pay what it "cost".
