I checked the oil and cut open the filter and saw no metal. Hopefully it's the ac tensioner problem I keep hearing about.

Let's us know how your motor swap works out man. And definitely do a walk around with the guys before they do it.

Shit, really? Give it a couple days and let me know. Could Also be the timing chain tensioners

I'll let you guys know how it pans out.

Looks like I'm out of a car for a few weeks.

They put me in a MAZDA 2. It is kinda ridiculous. Funny, but not.

Now dealer says that they're trying to deal with ford, and that an engine has not been authorized yet, and that they may send an inspector.

The service manager would not give me my car back to drive, even though it is not taken apart, because "they may need to do additional tests on it, and the inspector may come."

Should I be worried about my GT500 axlebacks causing the inspector to deny the claim?

If so, I should demand the car back, re install the factory axlebacks and then give the car back to the dealer correct?

Mine was a load dependant rattle/tap/metallic tick that occured from 1500-2500 rpm. I don't recall that it was audible at idle. The car was stock other than GT500 mufflers.

This is exactly how mine is! I have taken it once and they said it was normal I have another appointment for Thursday. Car has 9200 miles now

Get it looked at and push the issue now. If you wait too long you won't have a leg to stand on. This is a known issue and is becoming more and more abundant. Ford knows the only way to fix whatever it is making the noise is tearing the engine apart so they're trying they're best to deny and evade the issue.

Update: dealer has had the for the last 7 hours. They said they haven't found anything. Asked to keep it until 5:30 today and for me to bring it back on my next day off which is next Thursday and leave it again

The only thing I would worry about on them swapping out motors would be if you ever wanted to trade the car in at all. Because the value will be less since the motor won't match the VIN. I know this because someone that I am friends with had this done and then never felt right about the car again, so when he went to trade in the car they gave him some crazy low offer and they said that it was due to having the motor swapped out.

Just something to think about.

Do wut?

When is the last time you went to trade in a car, and the dealer was looking under the hood to make sure the engine VIN and car VIN were matching?

What do you think this is, a 1967 Shelby GT500?

:dw::dw::dw::dw::dw::dw::dw::dw::dw:

I don't believe that Ford puts vin numbers on blocks, and a warranty claim/replacement will not change the value.

I think he's sayin like a car fax deal. The vin number is entered each time it goes to the dealer. They can see what was done. If they pull a service report it will show an engine change. Not really a bad thing since its done at a dealer.
