no his # 8 popped because he drove around for weeks with the car down on power and puffing white smoke.

:nono: No, he drove around for weeks with it puffing white smoke HOPING it was "a no big deal" when all along #8 was already toast.[/QUOTE]

Exactly this!!! The fact that is was puffing smoke says it was already bad before the dyno day. I feel bad for the op. sounds like he's doing his homework now though.

so something just dawned on me, this whole lean AFR at WOT thing.

I have dual aero forces set to flash if i get above 12.2 AFR at WOT. as long as i monitor that, aren't i "safe"?

12.2 AFR is fine on a N/A car and is actually a tad rich. Boosted cars like the mid 11's. I think I'm at 12.4-5 at WOT.

You need to give Mustang Performance Racing ( Tim Eichhorn ) a call at 561-588-0188. Awesome engine builder and he is local to you. He built mine.

I gave him a call the other day and again earlier today, and it looks like he'll be the one I take I to if I keep my engine and my blocks ok.. How is your car running? Are you on stock compression?and did u phrase to arp head bolts and the billet oil pump? How much did the build end up running you with r&r bc I hb to bring to someone first to take the engine out before its brought to tim

x2 Tim is the man for Mod Motors in S. Fla.

I think going with that and power by the hour when it's all done.

Mine is probably minutes away from popping:( I better get AED tuned tomorrow...nothing else can save it:rolleyes:

Guys, I definitely felt there was something wrong before the car started caughing up smoke after I installed the tb, the sensation of lost power/tq. Just appropriate action was'nt taken when I had that concern. Something I don't want to get further into upon request.. The tb just seemed to accelerate the engine taking a dump..
And I wasn't driving it around for weeks puffing smoke, it's been since last Wednesday/Thursday

Today I took off my tb along with the Jlt and loaded the stock tune as advised by power by the hour.. And he loaded back in the stock tune.. Now the car really seems to be getting worst, I heard some knocking while sitting at a light and now with those things taken off and at least 1 Cylinder not working the car feels atlesst 100+ hp/Tq weaker and is ideling at like 650rpm, needing to give it a lot of gas to have it follow thou it stalling

Edit: also I drove behind in my dads car for a quick trip, and smoke is pouring out even more now, not just hard acceleration

Why are you messing with tunes and running the car at this point? You should be trying to salavage anything you can to recoup some costs of the rebuild. Right now you are possibly causing more issues!

If its at the point of billowing smoke out, swapping tunes and driving it around more isnt gonna magically fix it.

Dumb move. When it started acting funny you should have taken the key out, got it towed, and not turned it on again til it was fixed.

Quit driving it already, it's done. Right now the standard dimension bores might be salvagable, doubtful but possible. Keep driving it you could end up tearing the shit out of the cylinders potentially beyond any overbore capability.

for some reason, the guy who will be most likely be tuning it after the car is fixed said to he just wanted the stock tune back on there and that the the cai/tb doing something with the MAF, something i didn't completely understand and i saw as a sunk $100. and he said its not the end of the world if i drive it around some sedately. though he could very well be trying to just push off a complete engine, and totally destroy what i have left to not be able to salvage by just doing the shortblock. but thats me thinking the worst scenario

i keep telling this to my dad and hes not listening to the fact that im doing more injury driving the car around.. i just dont have the $ to do it tommarrow im gonna have to look into a loan.

Just saying, taking out a loan to do performance work to a car has not ended we'll for myself or anyone else I know. I would look into another form of funding to get the car fixed. I'm not going to address all of the #8 fears as I have an idea as to what is going on on your end OP.

If you plan to drive the car around, this may be worth a shot. You can also try unplugging the coil and injector harness to the bad cylinder as last resort to help the smoke situation since the motor seems to be already FUBAR.
