Thanks to everyone for their 2 cents.......I've got 3800 miles on my 2012 that I bought last August and am going to add the ProCal tune. As said before........peace of mind. Can't wait to get it installed.

Installed the tune a few weekends ago, and this past Sunday I installed the GT500 axle backs. Definitely feels stronger down low. No denying that. Skinny pedal is much more sensitive. Haven't had a chance to put it on the highway to see how it rolls, but once I do, I will chime in.

As Red Turtle mentioned, this tune is for folks who want a bit better daily drivability, not big gains on top end. I'm 100% happy with my tune so far.

Red Turtle, thank you for this thread. I have read about 4 pages worth, as most of it was constant repeat concerning the FRPP vs. FMC warranty.

I will be taking delivery of my 2013 in about a month, and coming from a previously tuned vehicle, I am wanting the same for the 5.0L. With it being my first new vehicle, and also wanting to maintain the factory warranty, this kit will be order not long after I get the car.

Again, thank you and I look forward to see what this will do to my car in a North Texas summer. Haha

I guess the FRPP pro cal doesn't do much for a auto. Hopefully this new 13 procal does. I really want a tune bit o want to keep my Warranty.

The biggest problem with this tune is it pings and most seem to have it. The good thing is, so far there hasn't been engines blowing up because of it. I do wonder about the longevity of the motor though. Ford Racing says it's completely safe and the knock sensors keep the ping from doing any real damage.
If you care about warranty this tune is a must. The stock 5.0 especially with 3.31's has an unresponsive, boring, sluggish feel to the acceleration for how fast it is.:bored: This tune makes the car feel more like I expected it to feel when I first test drove it.

So what should I go to a Ford Racing dealer have them install the procal and then call my ford dealer from where I bought the car lol. My dealer from where I got my 13 isn't a Ford Racing dealer.

This is where I am confused as well, Jose. I know there is a FRPP dealer there in Houston, just can't remember the name, ATM. I will probably call and ask around and see if it's elligible to be installed at other dealers and still be warranted.

I had called Ford Racing to confirm this before ordering mine. Warrantied as long a Ford dealer installs. Doesn't need to be a FRPP dealer. I did have trouble however getting some Ford dealers to perform the "install" since it's not technically a Ford part.

Of course, keep your receipt for the install.

Thanks, Viking. I will see if I can talk to the one of the service managers at the dealership I'm going through to do the install.

I also talked to one of the FRPP supervisors at the Ford Carlisle event this year. He indicated there were zero mechanical failures traced back to the FRPP tune. So as others said this is a pretty low risk option.

He was also going to find more info on when they stopped using piston squirters during the 2012 production run but I still need to follow up with him on this.

I remember reading somewhere that the squirters got axed mid-run of the 2012s, exact time frame unknown thought. I'm kind of curious why Ford did away with them after just 1.5 years in production...unless they realized they didn't really need them.

If only it were possible to dyno-tune/adjust the Pro-Cal tune. LOL

I had the same mindset as some of you guys. i wanted a safe tune that would improve drive-ability while maintaining some type of warranty. The ProCal was perfect for me except the engine pinged at 4k RPM under heavy acceleration. I could not keep running this tune, regardless of how non-harmful FRPP said it was. Also I disagree with some of you in regards to the Auto installation. Sure the Procal give the manual a little more oomph, but I could still feel the extra torgue in my auto. It didn't change shift points, but the throttle response was better

This is the first "good" response I've heard about the pro-cal on the auto.....

But it doesn't change any of the shift points on the autos which can make a significant difference.

People are paying $7-800 for a driveshaft that may gain .02 in quarter... I paid $560 for a powerpack/tune/exhaust combo that not only gains .04 but also sounds better - AND keeps my warranty.... no brainer to me

Just has to be a ford dealer to install, not a ford racing dealer!
