A stock 03/04 Cobra will need A LOT more power too in addition to the other suggested mods. Probably a given, but wasn't mentioned.

Most important things are: Weight, excellent suspension setup (ARBs, camber, caster, toe, etc.), and tires. Power is obviously an issue, but if you're planted out of turns and faster around them, there's no problem.

Ed, I see you're in Indianapolis and suggest Kenny Brown. I have every piece that they sell including the IRS upper and lower control arms, sub bushings, some custom metal work inside the car and under the car, plus some nice 6-piston wilwood brake upgrades(cooling ducts) with rear rotor and pad upgrade. Canton alluminum road race pan. coilovers(cornerweighted 50/50) battery relocated to right rear with 15lb dry cell, custom Butler alluminum race seat with 5 point harness, custom alignment and tire pressures, Avon Tech-R dot slicks, lightened wheel by 5lbs per wheel. I'm pretty sure I can get another 100 lbs off (3250). To bad KB shut the doors. I'm feeling pretty good about my chances with the Z. I have encountered many cars in 7 track events last season and have not had a car go by yet. At an SVTOA event My lap times were 2 seconds quicker than the factory Ford GT on a 2.3 miles course. I have also put time on many modded porches(GT3),vipers,C-5's,360 modena. I'm sure the day will come pretty soon for the "pointby" as I will be running in advanced run groups at all events this season. I do have some video I'll try to get up from last season. I will be recording all events this year so stay tuned for the Z06 footage.

FlahDah man.
See the Maximun Motorsports suspensions and how their cars fare. A cool 5 grand helps too.

I'm with Jimmy on this one ..... Good driver ....anything can happen. I have seen a Focus put it's Blue Oval all over the back of a Z06 at Gingerman last year pushing him through the turns. Yes, I was in the car also ....

I've run in hpde with nasa and I've gotten point by's by Z06 drivers all the time especially if there beginners my mods are H&R race springs Mm aluminum rack bushings and toyo R888 the car is stout but not a beast yet... I've gotten down to low. 2:00 on it. To give you an idea on how hard it will be to hang with a Z ... A stock C5 Z06 with Penske shocks and sticky tires with a good driver will run 1:42-1:45 all day !This is at Infineon raceway. That was the American iron track record a couple of years back. I'll be going full MM suspension system soon and can't wait to get out there.

How much track time do you have?? If you can say you are a damn good driver, then add suspension..

It sounds like it is only a matter of time before you encounter one. If the vette driver is truly an advanced driver you will have you hands full. The only thing i see you don't have is a real heat extractor hood and an sla front suspension.
Here are a couple of example of a few mustangs cobra's at two different tracks. At the rockingham track below chris desalvo he was only 1 1/2 seconds slower then his ttu zo6 vette, in which he was carrying 3 more pounds per hp more
then the zo6. The ttr vette in unlimited in weight and hp and he was 3 seconds faster. The track might have changed between these event perhaps.
TTR 482 Toby Milne Corvette Z06 1:08.45 9/20/2008
TTU Chris DeSalvo Corvette Z06 1:03.79 6/18/2006
TTS Chris DeSalvo Mustang Cobra 1:05.35 6/17/2007

TTU = “Adjusted” Wt/Hp ratio equal to, or greater than, 5.50:1
TTS = “Adjusted” Wt/Hp ratio equal to, or greater than, 8.70:1

Look at the link below, andy sutak in a cobra with a agent 47 sla has set many track records in nocal. An unfortunately he is running an ls1 engine.

Can you post up a larger version of this...it seems a little small on my 3200x1800 resolution screen. :)
