Take one good bone stock cobra and 10k not the way I would do it now but back in the day: hellion 76 kit, clutch, DR, 10.00 at 143 full weight you need a better IC and 80 or 88 to make 1k

My Heads Cams 2.8 car had way more $ into it and went mid 10's on a DR

Have you ever had your car to the track?

yes 1/4 mile a couple times with the ported blower, and 1/8 mile a couple times with my kenne bell, broke imput shaft twice, i despised the idea of putting a cage in my street car but since the 3.4 whipple swap, the car is pretty violent on the street with almost 750hp, and i am currently running 4.10 gears so its pretty crazy, but a cage is going in in a month or so as soon as my e-85 swap is done and i already got my 28x10.5 m/t drag, and i have to install my 2-step,and i should be ready,i have about $9,200 in this setup with the built block, i do all my own work, and my friend built my block and degreed my cams for a players discount

automatic or 6 speed, and the hellion kit alone is 6400, so i guess you did all your own labor, because i dont see any fuel upgrades there no imput shaft(so you must be extremely lucky) somebody must have givin you the 99-01 parts you needed to switch to the turbo, so yea maybe you could get lucky if you can work on your own car, my friend i started this thread about cant, so it wouldnt even be close to $10,000, my friend who posts on here(whom i will have chime in and say hi) just made 701hp/780tq,for about $4500, ported blower, imput shaft, clutch, fuel system upgrades, and a nos kit, #68 nos jet, so about a 200 shot roughly, car already had exhaust on it when he purchased it

whats up tim tell jason he dont need all that turbo i will still shut him down with my stock charger lol. plus you know street racing is breaking the law lol. iam going with the same set up in my black car as the mystic but i should be alot lighter. all tublar, coilovers, sas manual seats only fronts,no mach 460,airbags,a/c manual brakes, basicly everything not needed. plus aluma star wheel. wonder what it should weigh. i cant wait to see the results of the weight reduction this year at the track. i want that bitch to leave on the revlimiter.

For street use, mine is set to 19 pounds and makes over 950rwhp.
I still have the T56 and I run 3.31 gears.
My tires are M/T 305-35-18 drag radials.
If you can run your buddy from a roll in 3rd gear, then you should be able to hook up and go. However if you try to start in 2nd gear, it will make boost and spin the tires.
I'd suggest starting around a 60mph roll in 3rd.
My car does NOT like anymore boost than 19#, as it will BLOW the tires off in 3rd gear and 4th gear at speed.

How you ramp in the boost can make a big difference in the car leaving or spinning. I run my boost controller on 80% ramp in and it seems to work good for me. I use the Blitz controller, but the AMS1000 as mentioned above is FAR superior.

I have my twin car turned down to little over 600rwhp at 12psi and even 3rd is usless for me. I have the E Boost 2 which does the same for how much boost per gear. I need to actually set it.

My track times are a joke.
Every time I go I break the car before I get a chance to learn how to launch it. It's a fine line between bogging and spinning. I went in November and I got 2 passes before I broke my mainshaft (Viper spec no less).

These were right off the street on 19 pounds and 93 octane -
1st pass - 12.0 @ 148mph with a 2.8 sixty foot (bogged off line)
2nd pass - 11.30 @ 146mph with a 2.2 sixty foot (bogged, then spun, then hit rev limiter in top of 2nd gear)
3rd pass - Broke on starting line

Here's a picture of what a viper spec shaft looks like after I'm thru with it.

staged boost controller sounds like the best plan. I don't understand why you are against it. There is always going to be a traction limit weather you have to handle it by feathering gas or ahving lower boost.

Not sure why he wants to handicap himself with IRS. If its for street racing hes just giving the advantage to the guy that will do solid rear axle.

Honestly it's hard to put a figure on it.
For example -
1. Do you plan to do it with a 4.6 or a 5.4?
2. Do you plan to run B heads, C heads, 04 cobra heads, or GT/GT500 heads?
3. Do you plan to keep a stock computer?
4. Do you want to drive it daily (or at least have the ability)?

I had a 4.6 engine previously. It has ported PI heads (2 valve), twin 57mm turbos, and made 800rwhp on race gas. It made 740rwhp on 93 octane.
Cost was around $16K total.

I then decided to go for a true 1,000rwhp at the tires and changed to a 5.4 with GT heads (4 valve) and stock GT cams, twin 67mm turbos, and make 975rwhp on 93 octane. It can and has made 1,000rwhp on 93 octane at 20 pounds, but I don't like running it that high on pump gas.
Cost was around $25K total.
Keep in mind you will need to source your fuel system (pump, regulator, lines, rails, sumped tank, fittings, hose, etc) separately.
You will also need to source your ignition system upgrades (coils, wires, boost a spark, etc) separately.
Finally depending on your injectors used, you may have to run an external injector driver (this is what I did - Versafueler from Acceleronics) separately.

I also added a Viper spec T56 trans, SPEC twin disc clutch, driveshaft, built rear (axles, carrier), front and rear brake upgrades, etc.

This will start adding up quickly.
So my suggestion is to realistically look at your budget and then build what fits for you.

25 grand is a very solid number to take a cobra to 1000rwhp. With my built short block I'd have about that into mine if I added up everything at "regular cost" and "install"

I want EVERYONE that told me that I shouldn't got to a TH400 to take a look at those pics! I was getting comments like "What did you break you left leg" "6 speeds are more fun" bla bla bla. Now do you haters understand? LOL
