If you had a 2.76, a port and a 100 dry shot you'd be in the mid ten range. Those cars are 10's stock with any decent DR.

"Car keeps blowing axles!" and "Blew the diff cover again!":dw:

Oh and let's not forget...

"Clutch is toast!":dw:

Just add --> $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's all good though as long as you know what to expect as you get to the different levels.

Finally HOME from Iraq, Whitney Tx.
I have a stage 3 steggy ported eaton for sale in the for sale section. It already has a 2.8upper on it too.

In all honesty, I would buy one of the used whipples or Kenne bells in the for sale section. There are some over there tht are really good deals!!!!

IMO don't sweat what your neighbor has, or doesn't have. Just enjoy what you have and what you're wanting to do or not do with your car. You start trying to compete with others powerwise (or for bragging rights) and the cost on your pocketbook and on your Cobra could be more than you're bargaining for. There will always be someone faster. That's one reason why I was very content when I had a 457rwhp/489rwtq combo. It wasn't the fastest around, but it was far from slow, too. I was very content. Never stressed about someone being 1-up on me. JMO.

There is always someone faster......

In this case, ur buddy!:lol1:

cheapest way to beat him . . .

2.76 upper, HD clutch, Mickey Thompson DR's, 125 shot, and a damn good tune. . .

high 10's for sure, just don't dump the clutch and it should run damn good . . .

My bad guys. I don't know the Vette's very well and looked up an 02 Z06. it said (C6) so I assumed they were. This must be the one prior with 405hp.

I'll look into thier specs.

Is nitrous of the question for you? If not, upper and lower pulleys, 100 or 150 shot, and a GOOD TUNE!!

don't worry Tim, one of us will get him

I guess I pushed him over the edge last time we raced and beat him all stock :D

I don't think Nitrous is a way that Timmer will go guys.

Steigy ported blower stage 3 and up, 2.93 upper, 4lb lower, mafia, bap, mid pipe, colder plugs, larger belt and a good tune and you should beat him. Thats around $2000 in new parts that you could install with help from this site.
If you want to wax his ass, buy thee above parts used and add 60lb injectors and a shot of nitrous. If you want to play, be prepared to pay in upgrades sooner or later. The main thing is a good tune and just be careful because
you will have turned your car into a beast...:coolman:

I'd personally call BS on the 448 rwhp without aftermarket heads on his ls6...he's likely more in the low 400 rwhp range with a cam and no head work. He has a MUCH lighter car and better aerodynamics so you will still have a tough race without a twin screw or nitrous. You could try the max effort eaton route if you are on a limited budget (stage 5+ from steggy) but you will still have your hands full.

Nitrous is def. not the option I'm looking for here. GT500R is a buddy of mine. I understand the risks of running high horsepower in a car and how the money just keeps adding and adding, that wasnt the question. Just was curious of which set up will get me close to that horse power. I think we are jumping the gun by saying he is pressuring me into it. I've had the car for 21/2 years now, and I've been waiting to do some work to the thing since. Finally got some bills in order and I have some money to spend on the car. Just was using him as an example just to see what i would have to do to get to his range in power. The car def put down 448. He has a dyno sheet. 1/4 hasnt been ran yet in the car and high 10s were just an estimate by the guy that did the install. I appreciate the input and am looking into all your ideas. I understand my car wont be the fastest i just want to get the most bang for my buck, thats why i put a dollar figure in my post to see where i could stand with that kind of investment.

Best advice on this thread. I don't understand the obsession with guys wanting to be the fastest guy around. Be grateful with what you have. Its a bit infantile and void of rationale to be digging into your pockets to beat a Z06. There are more sensible things to spend money on in this world.

i would do the steg iv instead of the steg v. I don't believe the money is worth it to go to the stage v. If you did the port with 2.93 upper and 4lb lower with supporting mods you should pull him.

Very good advice here.

Decide what is "fast enough" for you, shoot for it, and be done once you get there. There's always someone with more money and horsepower, so unless you're Jay Leno or Tim Allen, don't worry about being top dog.

That said, get a twin screw and make us Cobra guys proud!

10's with 448 rwhp? I think that's pretty optimistic.
Not at all, a C5 is a much lighter car. With that power and DRs, 10s shouldn't be difficult.
I'd blow the Z06 off and save up about another grand or 2 and buy a Kenne Bell or whipple with all supporting mods.
Agreed, if you want lots of power then twin screw is the way to go.
cheapest way to beat him . . . 2.76 upper, HD clutch, Mickey Thompson DR's, 125 shot, and a damn good tune. .
Agreed again... if you want to put this Z06 in your rear view on your budget, spray will be the best option unless the guy is a horrendous driver.

However, I'm glad to see that you're thinking about this in more reasonable terms. Many people get obsessed about beating this or that car and I don't really think that it is the way to find happiness :)

That c5 is going to need some slicks and atleast another 40rwhp to be a consistent 10 sec car. As he stands right now i think with a stage IV port and a 2.76(and a good tune) with some decent drag radials you should be able to hang with him if not pull him a little. If anything just a 2.76 unported and 100shot will do it as well.

Ported blower and 2.75 pulley along with the appropriate fuel mods should put you ahead of him. I pulled on a local buddy with a H/C C5 making 435 rwhp with that exact combo from a 40-140 roll. With a 2k dollar budget you might as well throw a 4lb lower with that 2.75 upper and really seal the deal.
