I only wanted to trade my Cobra for a Z06. I love the Corvette...probably will never be in a Mustang again.

The only car that will ever make me get rid of my truck is a Ford GT (no not a Mustang). Other than that, I'll keep this truck pretty much forever.

That's the plan so far.

The only thing I would trade the Cobra for:
A late model modded Gen1/Gen2 Viper.

I sat in a Ford GT at the dealer a while back, Love the car, don't think I could drive it comfortably (I felt very cramped)

Like the style and power of the new Vette, but I have never been able to only push 1 pedal at a time in a Vette (really big feet LOL)

I've had a 911...... fun, but not fast enough.

BMW M6 is way fast, seats a family, very comfy... But @ 100K too much

Mercedes AMG 65 Ditto ^^^

As for needing a back seat, fast and solid. How about:
A Firebird 'Firehawk'

I want something newer than a Mark8. I have really been thinking about a g35 coupe. I drove a sedan last week when looking for a car for my wife. Liked it a lot. Ended up getting her a Lincoln aviator yesterday.

G35's are amazing. They handle like nothing else, and the ride is really smooth. It has great acceleration and is very peppy. Also it is a very solid car too, and has the reliability of Japanese engineering. You definitely get your bang for the buck with a G35. :pepper:

The 'Significant Other' just bought a G35x (G35 sedan with AWD) It handles great, stops on a dime with .08 change (has brakes the size of trash-can lids) and a very very nice interior. And it is 'peppy' but I wouldn't say 'fast'.... Of course I'm the one who said my 911 wasn't fast enough:rollseyes so it's all relative.

G35 is a kick a$$ car though:rockon:

Because of Michigan's weather and excessive use of road salt, I keep my Cobra garaged 6 months of the year. The roads are so potholed, and the traffic density so high, that it is no longer fun to drive a 6-speed muscle car in the urban areas. And there are too many a$$holes that ding your doors in the parking lot. BUT I WON'T SELL THE TERMINATOR! It's so much fun to drive when I get it out on a weekend and stretch it's legs in the country that I'll keep it until I die.

I have 4 other cars in the family, so this isn't a problem. I looked at a 6-cylinder Fusion, but don't like the styling. Besides, it's a re-badged Mazda. I have the $$ to buy another car, but don't see anything that really excites me that is also practical. I just cannot bring myself to buy a foreign car. Hell, I cannot bring myself to buy a GM or Chrysler product.

-2005 Ford 500 ("family" car)
-2003 Mustang SVT Cobra (my baby)
-2003 Mustang GT (wife's baby)
-1998 Ford Escort (son's transportation)
-1993 Ford Taurus (my "beater"

I take it you're going to use this car as a driver? I was in your same situation, and considered a new BMW M3, Infiniti G35 (coupe and sedan), and even a BMW 645Ci coupe. But considering the M3 would soon be outdated, I know way too many people who drive Infinitis, and I simply couldn't justify the price ($75K) and the depreciation expense I'd suffer in buying a 645 (it was a great car, though)...guess what, I ended up just ordering a new Mustang GT!

Performance-wise it's fun for an everyday driver, the price couldn't be more reasonable, and I get pretty much the same satisfaction out of it than I would with the others cars I thought about. I'm a big fan of the 645 (a completely different driving experience than a 3-series), but something like that is for later in life (when $75K may be of no concern whatsoever). IMO, no other car can offer what a new Mustang can offer [as an everyday driver...size (good thing for a driver), comfort, but mainly performance] for a such little $$$. When I got a call from the BMW dealer who assisted me when I was looking at the 645s, he was shocked when I told him I just ordered another Mustang. I know those guys claim Mustangs are not "real" cars, but you know what?....they can go to hell :p .

Posting this thread in a Mustang forum, you had to have expected an opinion like mine (yes, maybe I'm a bit biased towards Mustangs). But despite what the magazines, import crowd, etc says about the new Mustang wrt being a legitimate everyday driver, I'd recommend one anyday for someone who wants a fun and comfortable car to drive everyday, at a reasonable price.

All cars mentioned are great cars, and in fact I plan on getting a nice Gen II Viper GTS at some point in time, but never would I want one as a driver. For a 2-door coupe (with back seats), with price being a concern, you have my opinion.

Depending on the price...what the production model actually looks like, and well everything else going on in life...I'm really going to take a long hard look at trading the cobra for a Challenger when it comes out. Again, I'm no big balla, and the Cobra is my second vehicle...so I won't have a tonne of money to throw at it...making it an unlikely option...but hey...a boy can dream can't he?

A vette or a viper would be my only two choices but not as dd's. I hope to never have to make that call though..hopefully I can just put one of those cars next to my cobra one day:)
