i was wanting to do what everyone does and just put a blower on my car but looking at your car has me thinking of doing a little more saving and going for this swap. what is the approximate cost for getting a motor over 400rwhp with your parts. i would also like to still be able to spin it to around 7k. i have an 01 cobra

Thanks!
It costs about the same to build a 5.4 short block as it does a 4.6,
maybe a bit less, depending on CR.
It depends on what you are starting with (I know, 01 Cobra)
and how far you want to go.
The way I do it, you can re-use a lot of what you already have.
Heads, cam covers, etc.
This car is an absoute blast to drive.
Mine will go 7k with no worries, as Al Papitto built the motor.
Eric shut it down on the dyno at 6800 or so, and it was still @ 400 RWHP.
Instant torque =
Send me a PM with specifics, I do not want to tee off LL.

Almost legal (Undocumented Cobra? )

Paperwork package ordered today from FDOT
for "built from parts" Florida title.
Once it is all completed, and approved for inspection,
it will be trailered to Palmetto, Fl. for the actual inspection.

Also, received a more specific sales receipt from STEEDA, (from whom I purchased the body)
which details what a body in white actually includes.
A huge thanks to the folks at STEEDA for all the help they gave
during design and construction of this car.
If folks are trying to decide between STEEDA and another vendor,
please remember who helped me with this project.
The staff at STEEDA is made up of 100% Ford Hotrodders.

Almost there................
It is difficult to see it sitting there in the garage,
all waxed up and ready to drive some miles.

Wish me luck!

Thanks, I think I have every invoice for every part.

Steve:

That should be the last time you ever do that. :read: :poke: I did that for my 1966 resto and it made me sick! :xpl:

Have not done it since. I have no clue what I have in my R and I don't even want to know! :smmon: But I guarantee you it's about 4X what I'd ever get for it! :cryying:

I bet that adds up to a tidy sum.

Is there a requirement for smog/emissions for a built from parts car or is it exempt?

Not in my county of residence, no.
it is not mentioned in the STATE law.
getting it registered in a smog testing county might be different.

I actually have an idea for another build, naturally a 5.4 NA w/factory parts.
It would be pretty easy to do.
I think overall, I have in it (parts wise) what a 2000 "R" would sell for.
I did have one person ask how much for it,
I told him enough for a 2010 GT loaded and a house.
He asked "How big of a house?"
The satisfaction I get from it being just about finished is pretty decent.
I gotta tell you guys, (as if you didn't know)
Al builds a helluva motor.

Overall, when building the car, I kept options open so it can be duplicated.
With a little luck, I hope to develop LT's for it that can be built should others take the plunge.
Likely 1 3/4" primaries.
In theory, they should fit a 2000 "R".

Hey Matt.
It's a LOT different now.
Cold AC, the works, no squeaks or rattles, no exhaust leaks.
When you coming by?

I'll have to figure that one out. Schedule is always tough with the little one - she's alot bigger now.

A local buddy, AJ, painted the car.
His Blue 96 GT (Mach 1 powered) is next to mine in the pic.
He may be "powering up" some time soon.
