What I was trying to get at is...why hold companies responsible for safety if the workers can just go somewhere else if they feel its unsafe? It's the same logic used in the "get a better paying job if you don't like yours" argument.

I don't know what point you were trying to make, but you failed miserably. In both cases - safety, and wages - we hold companies accountable to the laws that are on the books.

Likewise, in both cases - safety, and wages - you're free to find another job if you don't like the conditions under which you're working.

There's a big difference between "I don't give a shit", and "they have to help themselves."

Last time I checked, despite the best efforts of our Commander in Chief, we still aren't quite a socialist country. I feel bad for people that have fallen on hard times through no fault of their own. But I have ZERO sympathy for people who want a raise for nothing more than having a job, and then riot when they don't get it.
