Is it worth it or just a gimmick? Going to Perry's Steakhouse for the wife's Bday and they advertise a 32oz Tomahawk. I want it just to say I had it (would be shared between us). But I want a good steak also, probably more so.

A 32oz tomahawk is kinda lame cause most of the weight is bone. I'd shoot for a bigger cut

not at my post...
I have had a tomahawk ribeye at Sullivan's steak house. I was impressed, but be prepared for the meat sweats! I was barely able finish it. Though I haven't had Perry's version of the tomahawk, I would wager they will do it up right, love their pork chops!

EDIT: As an alternative I would high recommend the pork chop, it's incredible.

I'm a bone-in Ribeye man myself, but with the Tomahawk you are paying for that huge bone.

One of our local markets (chain on the coast) is big into quality steaks and one happens to be a big tomahawk steak. You do get flavor with the bone in but not enough IMO to justify the cost. The store also sells waygu strips at $55 a pound.

Baller. Hope your wife enjoys her birthday. Never been to the restaurant in question but been to many many steakhouses. As others have alluded to, the Tomahawk is a lot visual but not a gimmick. Still a tasty bone in ribeye that looks mega cool. Just the thing for a birthday dinner.

I would order it but never to share. Only child. I don't share.

Hmmm a co-worker raved about the pork chop today. Decisions decisions.
