Well I have somewhat of a dilemma on my hands, not exactly a bad situation but Id like some opinions on it.
I have a 2004 Mystichrome with only 15,800mi on it. Only some tasteful mods have been done to it and it can all be put back to stock easily if wanted (see sig). This spring I bought a KB 2.2 because thats all Ive ever wanted to do is KenneBell one of these cobras and the 2.2 is my favorite blower. The problem Im having now is do I really take on a project of this size with such a low production # car. I have seen Mystichromes that have been all out modded and I have seen some bone stock with 5k mi on them. I know in the end it comes down to what I want out of the car but Id like to hear what you guys think. Leave it the way it is and do some other small mods or do I just go all out and make it a beast?? I do not plan on selling this car anytime soon and if I do it will be years from now. Been thinking about it for months now and I cant make up my mind! Help

I think that in your situation if you are going to put a twin screw on it the ONLY TS that I would put on your car or my car (SB '03 3,800 miles) is a 2.2 KB. Since you already have one that makes the decision even easier. The KB 2.2 is the most commonly associated TS with these cars. It was introduced at or near the same time as these cars were rolling off the production line. Years down the road, when you're trying to value the car I think you will be better off having modifications from the time period when the car was produced, i.e KB 2.2.

DO IT!!! You aren't doing anything to the car that can't be put back to stock if and when you ever want too.

No offense OP I hate when people say what you just said, "I don't want to mod a low production # car". You want my opinion? Who gives a ****? It's just a car, it's meant to be driven. If you own it in hope that one day it'll be worth a million dollars on barret jackson, go build a brick wall around it. Or, you can not care, slap that bad boy on, have a nasty street monster and enjoy it. Not trying to be a dick. Slap it on, and enjoy the smile

No offense taken man, I totally understand what youre saying along with 02 Sonic Blue. I never hope to actually make money on this car because I doubt it will happen, I just wouldnt want to depreciate its value by putting extra parts on it. But I see where everyone is coming from, I already spent the money on the 2.2, Im better off just enjoying it and making it as fast as I want!

As for the whipple, any size, will never happen haha nothing against whipple but everyone has one. Ive been to alot of car shows around this area and never seen a cobra with a 2.2KB on it. Not only that but like others have said this isnt a track car, just a street car and I dont need to go breaking things!

Mine is paid for and at this point I don't overly concern myself with future valuation. I chalk it up to "entertainment cost".

What I do consider is if I do this mod or that mod will I help or hinder my overall enjoyment of the car. I maybe different than some in that I hate the constant fixing that can come from heavily modding a car. I just want to install it, enjoy it and forget about it. I lack the patience to sort through all of the potential issues.

So if I am confident I could do a mod that would increase the fun factor and not the hassle factor I am all for it.

Bottom line is do what makes you happy!
We buy these cars for enjoyment not investments.

I just bought mine and though I'm partial to leaving things stock, simply from a resale perspective (i.e. what happens if I NEED to sell it and nobody likes the mods?), it's not really difficult to mod the car then de-mod it once you decide to sell it.

I'm seriously thinking about getting the K&N filter, pulley, and tune once I get the cash. Figure as long as the vehicle can still be returned to stock, and sooo many people mod these cars without undue stress on the car anyway, it won't cause any problems if/when you decide to sell it.

There should be no debate....just do it! After not doing anything to my car for 2 years and being bored with a eaton+2.8 pulley I bought a 2.2KB earlier this year and installed it and some other things on my '04 with 19k miles. Just got it tuned last Wed. and put down 603 rwhp SAE with 19* timing. You'll love it!!

If you're worried about value down the road, keep your stock parts. I'm keeping my Eaton with 19k on it and my cam covers and a few misc. things b/c I know they're in really good condition.

See how nice it'll look in an engine bay?? :D
