Love these cars and I'm sure there are others who appreciate it as well, but my main question is how does Tim know absolutely nothing about this car? Sounds like he bought it new in 86 and yet still knows very little about anything. It's actually painful listening to him talk about cars. He's that guy who heard a rumor and that's the extent of his knowledge and he repeats it over and over. Tim is a guy who clearly loves cars but knows very little about them which surprised me. Wait til you hear him talk about STIs lol.

That Subaru SRX, SVX, WRX-I...Geez lol! Poor guy seems like he's not all there. Always loved Tim Allen though as a genuine family guy.

The RS200 always fascinated me and seems like such a cool car to drive. Ken Block really highlighted that with his RS200. Group B rally had the ballsiest drivers ever and was the absolute rawest racing ever... The real jewel of my eye is the Escort RS Cosworth though. Soo damn good!

If I could talk to Ford decision makers I would ask them to build a new RS200 and bring it back. It would be popular among young people for the very reason you said, Ken Block. They were little known new but they have a broader base of people who know and love what they were. It just sucks that they didn't get to go on for very long and build a better reputation or gain a 2nd generation. I'd like to see it fall into the small sport compact class like the GR86/BRZ on a base model, like 250hp 1.6 turbo, and then in the higher model it would fall more in the STI to RS3 or 400Z and utilize a Cosworth built 2.3 turbo or something. A mid-engine AWD 2 seater would be in a class of its own though, and keeping it offroad capable would be the way to go as that is a trend right now. Porsche and Lamborghini have 911 and Huracan models that are offroad/rally spec.

Neither one of those to goofs know shit about anything they drive. Sad, really. All money, no research, no brains, no real interest.

Kind of hard to watch actually.

It was pretty painful. I think I heard him mentioned Peugot, Renault, Olly Bronco, the power band, WRXI, pancake engine, and a number of other things about a half dozen times in 5min. Leno at least knew most of the basics but it seemed like he just stopped replying after a while as none of it had to do with the RS.

The RS200 have to be worth around $400-500k now days. Herra's collection used to have 2 of them on display in Vegas and both had price tags of $350k which was about 15-20 years ago.

I remember going to the Imperial Palace Car Collection, and there were 3! All next to each other. I remember they were "for sale" but so was everything else, with "we don't want to sell them" prices. Very cool to see.

One sold on BAT in 2021 for 500k.

You're right, it was Imperial Palace where I saw it. Got them mixed up. There were at least two, but possibly three like you mentioned. I remember the more expensive one was an Evo and then the other one or two were the regular models like in the video. I think the Evos came with 650hp but there are only a handful offered that way.

Out here at Dirtfish Rally, they had one in their showroom. Cool piece.

There's a shop out in Lynwood I think and they have two that I've seen on their website. They could be someone else's of course but there are at least a couple of them here in Washington.

Come on, give Tim a bit more credit in the knowledge department. LOL. He's far from illiterate. Probably closer to the normal car guy, knowledge wise. Oops, outside of SVTP, of course. :ROFLMAO:

IDK... watching that video had me convinced otherwise.

I appreciate his enthusiasm, but it hasnt gotten him very far in the "knowledge" department haha

I like how in the beginning he stated he doesn't like to comment on things he knows nothing about, but then proceeds to misstate just about everything he said after that haha. It was painful to listen to.

Cool car. I'm a sucker for the Lancia Delta S4 and Audi Quarto.

Years ago a guy I knew in Chicago was importing Cosworth Escort rollers and selling them as road legal for about $30k. Insane money to me back in 2005. I'm sure that's cheap today.

Luckily I ended up with a Cosworth engined STI.

Anything from that 80s and 90s era based on the WRC vehicles is big money now or getting to be there. I really wanted to get my hands on a Lancia Delta Evo early on, but that would have been $30k back then. I guess they were huge in Japan and Japan got the majority of some of the rarest special edition versions, so plenty of them have made it to the states now. Check out Thecultivatedcollector on IG. Just glancing at what he has had on there, there's an RS200, XJR15 (super super rare!), 2 Renault 5 Turbos, Pulsar GTI-R, NSX-R, Stratos, MB Hammer, Countach, Carrera GT, and plenty of others. All in perfect condition of course. Guy has a dream job as a dealer.

The cars they are coming across are what dreams are made of. Pretty much anything relevant and ultra rare you can think of they have had it. I totally forgot about Venturi. I used to love using that car in Gran Turismo.

So I was under the impression that the Imperial Palace was some of Harrah's collection. But nope, just found this on line that explains it was the owner of the Imperial Palace collection, and later was the sell off.

"The Auto Collections, essentially a museum with dozens of classic cars on display, closed to the public on December 30, 2017. It was a 125,000-square-foot showroom on the fifth floor of the Linq’s five-story parking garage and vintage cars had been on display at the hotel since the early 1980s. Ralph Engelstad, owner of the Imperial Palace, as the Linq was previously known, displayed his private car collection there as a museum from 1981 to 1999. Engelstad then brought in the last set of operators to sell his vehicles, plus gasoline pumps, collectibles, and other display items. They took over the museum and turned it into a classic-car showroom, where almost all of the cars on display were for sale.

Over the next 17 years, the collection dwindled to approximately 65 cars, down from 200 or so in the Imperial Palace era, as other attractions opened and foot traffic trailed off, while the Auto Collection dealers did more and more of their business online and via print ads.

As for the remaining cars in the Linq showroom, the vast majority were on consignment. Either they were sold (most were) or they went back to their owners."
