I will admit it; I have an addiction to watching most of the Street Outlaws episodes. I know that many condemn the show due to the street racing, but that is not my concern at the moment. The entertainment factor is the concern being addressed at the moment.
...and what is more entertaining than Farmtruck and AZN? How are those two still alive? The stunts they pull are insane, but I love it.
Chief and the OKC crew have done a great job with Street Outlaws. They have generated a new interest in racing and performance mods. For that I applaud them.
Off and on New Orleans has tried their hand at moderating the show. Without any disrespect to Kye Kelly, the show lacks on a lot of levels. Kye and his crew are great racers and have fast cars. Kye has been to Carolina Dragway for a few grudge matches. He is a good guy, but I couldn't get into the show.
Now we have JJ and Memphis. After watching the same thing over and over again in OKC, Memphis is breathing new life into the show. The downside is that the original OKC crew is turning into a reality show, drama filled nightmare. I want to see cars race, and watch people have a good time.
JJ has been portrayed in the biggest negative light possible. He has been called a hustler, a cheater, and many other things. In reality, JJ is a grudge racer. He is trying to hustle you, but he isn't trying to cheat anyone.
Now that Memphis has its own show, JJ and his crew / family are seen as the legitimate people they really are. There's no cut throat infighting. There is no stupid list (I thought rankings were for sanctioned racing). JJ does have a big mouth, but he has a heart that shows through his tough guy act. JJ (Jonathan Day) is a simple guy out to have a good time.
Memphis Street Outlaws can keep moving forward as far as I am concerned. I like the layout and the real street racing platform (yes, safety crews are on sight, and the public is kept safe).
I wouldn't mind spending a few minutes with ol JJ. I have a feeling he is just a fun loving country boy living life and having a good time.
