As i just posted.. piced up 295/35/18 Michelin PS2's on sale at tire-rack. Best street performance tire being made today according to just about every survery. I will probably grab a set of Nitto 315's for my stock 17x9's for track use.

My current set-up is as follows:

275-30-19 Michelin Pilot Sports
295-35-19 Michelin Pilot Sports

I am in the process of lowering my car so I will see then if I can fit a 315-25-19 on the rear of the car.

im not a fan of tires sticking out past the fenderwell at all

i think this is a big reason why im hesitant to start messing with tire sizes and wheel sizes in the back.

case in point: yesterday i saw this redfire cobra parked on the street with stock wheels with the nitto 315's and they just stick out too much for my liking.

plus you have fitment issues, bolt issues, all that crap, sometimes its easier just to leave it alone, but who knows im full of crap if i swap tires/wheels in the back.. :)

i 100% agree. it's the same thing with rim sizes. i looked into just about every combo and i realized that no rim bigger than an 18 looks good in a cobra wheel well, and also that hugely obnoxious tires make the car look silly and trashy IMHO. stock corvette's come with 295's and have much bigger wheel wells than mustangs to put it into perspective. i considered the ps2 315's, but decided on 295's because they were on special. trust me at those prices you take ever $ you can get :)

295x35x18 on my 18x10's, look perfect... though I do wish I went with 275's in the front instead of the 265's on my 18x9's.. if anyone cares..

I agree with you man. That is the exact setup I was running on my GT with the deep dish bullitts. Fits perfect IMO. I also would have preferred going with the 275, they already tracked as it was and I wanted some more rim protection.

Well, Nitto DR's 305/35/18 would have been nice, but not on a daily driver.

This was one of the old threads that convinced me to try the 285/40/17 GS-D3's on the stock 17x9" wheel. They roll over only about 1/2" and with 29 lbs the entire footprint is in use. VERY HAPPY with the look and feel. I have 26"x11.5"x16 MT ET Streets for the strip and these are almost as wide and I could keep the stock chrommies that grew on me after figuring out how easy they are to clean up!

285/35x18 rear
255/35x18 front

I'm using SSR GT3 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear.
Just took off Dunlap SP Sport 9000 and I'm trying some Nitto NT 555.
With the IRS I like going round corners and you don't want tires that are too wide.

I went with the 285/40/17 GS d3's on my 10.5 chromies. I am 100 percent happy with them. They look great from the rear tucked in the wheel wells. MUCH wider then the stockers. They grab great and in wet weather they can't be beat. I got the 10.5 cause I planed on running the 315 D3's but chickened out cause I didn't want to run spacers.

Can I see a pic of this setup? Also .. did you need to do any modifications since it is only a 285/40/17 tire?

thanks,

I had BFG 315/35/17 on 17x9 stock wheels and they worked fine, but not good wear. Replaced with stock goodyear 285/17 and they are doing fine! I don't try to burn rubber from a stop. Once they are rolling they work fine!

I've just ordered new tires and wheels. iForged 3-piece Evolutions 19"x11"'s and will be fitted with 315/30/19's. The wheels are custom built so that the lip of the tire tucks in right at the fender lip so they won't stick outside of the fender at all. It costs a little more for the exact wheel fitment, but is worth it!
