Looking great! Subscribing to this! Where'd you learn to do all this stuff??

thanks all

most of it was just by doing it, learning what works and what doesnt. thats how it was with the seats, it was my first set, just kinda figured out what needed to be done and did it. I learned how to do body work when I worked at a bodyshop in highschool a couple years ago.

finally done with the passenger side endcap. next on the list is the rear quarters

wow that looks like alot of body filler on that end cap...or am i just seeing things

most of its fiberglass. the surface is filler so it appears to be all filler but its only about an 1/8in thick at the thickest part.

OP - This thread is awesome! You really do some nice work, I can't imagine how rewarding it will be to drive this thing when you're done building it.

It's funny, I hear alot of people say how Eleanor is so played out and the whole theme is lame. Personally I would die to have what you're building. I've watched Gone in 60 Seconds about a million times, and I'll watch it a million more just to drool over that car.

Stick with it and build it to perfect detail. (I believe you will.) Too many people build one but leave the rear bumper chrome, use the wrong wheels, or leave the trim around the tail lights chrome. I can't wait to see this one finished because it looks like it's gonna be spot on!!

Good luck, and keep posting the pics!

exactly, A lot of vintage mustang enthusiasts say that eleanor is a waste of good cars and what not. I understand where they are coming from so many of the clones I see done look terrible.Like you said, use different wheels, most people use the incorrect hood, people mess up the color its too dark or too light, the list goes on forever. Most people mold the body kit, which to me is horrible, it takes a ton of filler to get that look, and its only gonna crack down the road. Like I said before I see all of these cars, and think to myself "I can do it better" so I think that's what I'm determined to do. So many people including myself fell in love with the car from the movie, the lines were great, the colors fit perfect, and I wouldn't change a thing. To me its automotive perfection. I can spot one of the movie cars a mile away, in my opinion no one has captured the "look" yet even with hundreds of these cars out there.

Incredible work, you can really see the improvement compared to when you first started on the end caps/trunk area...... Though it is kinda comical what was considered acceptable panel gaps back in the day. :D

Seriously. A buddy of mine has a real '67 GT500 and the thing looks like it was just thrown together. The panels fit like crap.

OP, can't wait to see the finished project. It's going to be badass!

How right you guys are about build quality back then being a little suspect. But it wasn't just limited to Ford; the others had real problems too.

AGREED! I'm not the one footing the bill, but IF I was I would do it right or not at all!! PIAA's, fuel filler on the pillar, the whole nine yards! I really look forward to seeing the progress. You build the car and I'll see if I can find you a California tag "LYN 274"!

Exactly, so many people do them and dont do it all. I have yet to see a clone with full PIAA lighting. I understand why tho, most of the lights are out of production and are very expensive, (almost $900 for all of the lights) After some phonecalls I did manage to find a set of the correct piaa headlights that were used on the movie cars .

Id love to get a LYN 274 plate for the car for shows and stuff.

since the weather has been anything but nice, I spent most of today doing some of the boring stuff. I stripped the door jambs and rockers, some mild surface rust in a couple spots but nothing a wire wheel cant fix.

img2433m.jpg

Then I scraped off all of the old watershield glue and old caulking from the inside of the door. After that I had to get the rest of the paint off of the inside of the door. This was extremely time consuming and tedious because the metal has a texture to it, so I couldn't sand it or wire wheel it like I could any other part of the car. So I used chemical stripper and a little brass wire brush by hand so I could get all of the paint of the nooks and crannys without destroying the texture. Once again the doors were completely rust free.
