Pics of garage of ban!

J/K but the cobra is going to love it's new home. I have heard of stuff from home depot you paint on concrete but never of anything like you posted above.

floor finishing is super easy. its all about the prep work. it comes with a caustic mixture to acid clean the floor before you roll the epoxy on it. let it dry for 3 days and you are solid.

I much prefer Race deck way better product I think I have used most epoxy's and with my experience they don't hold up.

Here is my current race deck floor after install.

Oh and no waiting or acid washing just swept and laid it down in a couple hours.

i used the epoxy from home depot like mentioned above, i prepped it pretty and good and it turned out nice, lay it down thick though. it is holding up good not peeling or anything but oil and fluids and other crap have stained it in some spots, havent really got down and tried to clean it yet. but it does look nice if you keep it up

Hopefully I can afford it, the garage it rather large. I think it closer to 1800sqft im gonna have to run by there and measure, I really wanna try this out though.

That is definitely bigger than 1,000sqft. That is going to be a nice setup. Congratulations.

Damn I thought standard home depot epoxy floors were baller enought......

I went with the standard Home Depot Rustoleum 2.5car Garage "Super Gloss" formula.

Before:

My buddy started us with the epoxy garage floor when he first did it. From what ive heard from flooring experts (the company I used to work for did commercial flooring), its all in the prep, if your prep is weak, the epoxy wont adhere as well and end up chipping/bubbling at the seams within a year or so.

I did two days of degreasing, followed by two days of etching, then patched any areas (previous owners of the home had built a room in the garage so there were chunks of floor missing where they had put their walls). Then the day before I laid the epoxy I did one final etching. Then applied it and let sit for 5 days prior to putting any vehicles on (says 3 days on the box). We did less prep with my buddies (newer house) and its held up to this day. Im slightly dissatisfied with their "high gloss" formula though, its less glossy than my buddies and he used the standard Behr formula vs my Rustoleum. I will likely re-do it come springtime with the Behr kit and follow up with a few coats of high gloss sealer; will also likely do a darker grey. And yes, you can tell on mine when we switched paint buckets. Will not make that mistake again; come springtime ill mix both buckets all at once.

That Metallix stuff looks cool but if this is a garage youre going to want some grip, and the flakes help with that. You can also add in a grip aggregate to the epoxy mixture as well (or to a topcoat if you choose to apply it) to add even more grip. Dont think those coatings look like theyre going to be fun to work on if someone spills some coolant or oil and you are all slipping/sliding everywhere.

Those coatings look sweet for a man-cave, but not for a working mans garage floor.

Almost every professional shop out there has an epoxy floor coating of sorts. Race Deck is cool but anything you spill seeps through and just sits on your floor under it......doesnt sound very "sanitary" imo.

We've got the rustoleum epoxy from home depot as well. Like Thomas said, if you don't take the time to do the prep work, you might as well not even bother. It seems to be holding up pretty well. There is a clear coat that you can also buy and comes with what appears to be ground up glass to put in the clear to give the floor some grip. I definitely suggest that, because the floor is slippery as shit without it. I fell a couple times before we did the clear coat and I thought I broke my back haha.

Did you sprinkle the flakes on the standard epoxy?

The additive I saw for grip was more like sand than ground glass but who knows.

-Off-topic-

Save a bay on one end (nearest the BR) for a tiki bar, with seating and Game-Day TV on the wall behind the bar.

Nothing more manly than some friends, football, suds, and a supercharged 4 valve.

-edit- disconnect the underhood light and leave the hood open during gatherings. I've got an old-style Hemi motor on a test stand I could loan you on these days...

That's going to be a great garage. I don't know if outdoor sheds are common there, but since you have a 4-bay garage you could use one of the bays (or half of one) for equipment/outdoor furniture storage. Anyway, as far as that wild looking floor finish, consider that the wilder the finish the more quickly it come become "old". A more simple finish like the one Thomas has IMO will look nicer over the years as styles change. And a garage floor as large as yours finished with a wild coating like that could be a bit busy. Just some thoughts. It is pretty neat, though, and very different.

I really wish I had even a 3-bay garage. By the way, do you have enough ceiling height for a car lift? The roof is pitched steeply so I thinking maybe you do.

+1 on everything.

It's gonna be a awesome garage when you're done with it though, regardless of what flooring you end up with.

I planning to go with a stained concrete. Holds up much better than epoxy. But it's more expensive.

4+ car garage? I would live in there.

Personally, I would go with the epoxy from home depot.

Ha! I actually am going to live above it until I build a house on the land, there an unfinished apartment above it that I am gonna start working on also. My P's bought the house with 28 acres this garage and a 21 stall horse barn.

There are two rooms on the front, the one on the left already have plans to cut a hole in the wall and make it a bar with keg taps etc... I may just end up doing the bar room floor with it, I probably end up spending 2Gs + to do the whole floor "Id rather have a whipple"

Oh yeah car lift's on my list of to buys! The ceiling height 20+ I'm a have to get a sky lift to change light bulbs and insulate the roof for the apartment. The picture doesn't do it justice, I guess whoever lived there before used it for storing tractors n' stuff
