Hey everyone, I am looking to purchase a 2004 Cobra Terminator that needs a lot of work. I am worried about this car as it is missing a lot of OEM parts and I am not sure why someone would do this.

Missing the following 03-04 Cobra specific parts - IRS (has Solid read axle with what I believe to be 3:73 gears), front and rear seats, interior switches (traction control and fog light), side scoops, side skirts, deck lid and spoiler, 13” front brakes, power folding mirrors
Shocks and struts are blown and need to be replaced
Missing rear sway bar
Fog lights not hooked up
Stereo/speakers don’t work correctly
CEL is on due to not having catalytic converters
Could use a tune up

Can someone help me with this vin # 1FAFP48Y34F181076

P48Y means terminator coupe
Thanks for the reply. I ran the vin and it does read 04 Cobra Coupe. Is an oasis report better than carfax or any other report you can get online? Just strange that so much is missing and it has clean title so makes me a little nervous. I don’t mind putting the work into it just don’t want to buy something that’s not real. This has always been a dream car.

I there was a nice one on here not long ago that needed very little, I believe he was asking 29k. Not only are those parts going to be expensive but they are going to be hard to find. Sounds to me like this car was trashed at some point in its life, not sure why anyone would change most of that stuff unless it was wrecked. I would be very Leary of this one. I don’t know what he is asking for it but if I were to make an offer on it, it would be a low ball offer, those are just the things you know about, I am sure there is more hiding. If you can get it for a steal price and have the ability to put it back together and don’t mind waiting to find parts, go for it,

I'd pass. The car sounds like a theft recovery. Back when I had FB I'd see them pop up from time to time and were easy to spot because stuff was either missing or swapped for lower level stuff that made zero sense.

I pulled the vehicle history, one accident reported with damage to the front and rear but not total loss and has went through a few different owners. Clean title with no thefts reported. This is probably the cheapest cobra on the market so I’m going to fly over and take a look at it and get it inspected. I’ll update you guys in a few days with all the details. I appreciate everyone’s response.

Very strange.

I’d figure what the correct price is for mileage and average wear, then subtract 10k, at least.

If it’s clean but just missing parts, either walk or offer a crazy lowball and see what happens.

I’d be VERY cautious. You being excited and having wanted one forever may make you accept things that you’ll regret later.

Depends on what you want to do with the car.

You want a drag car? Go for it.

You want a weekend cruiser/show queen? Hard pass.

I appreciate your feedback. Indeed this is very strange and I am trying not to get too excited. It has approximately 119k miles, I haven’t seen the car in person but seems clean in pics. So far we have agreed on what I think is a ridiculously low amount and that’s without seeing the car in person. Could get it for even lower in person. That too has me nervous because the price seems to good to be true.

Unless it’s a co or mc color I’d say HARD pass. A recent sale on here was around that price for an 87k mile silver coupe. Although that was crazy cheap for current market I think you could do much better.

I am in the process of overhauling my Bullitt I could have easily bought a good low mile terminator for less money. Unless the reserrection is something you want to try, I would keep looking.

this is the type of car you only think about buying if you can steal it, 13k is not stealing it

Doesn’t sound like a terrible deal to me. If it still had the IRS I even like the $13k price. Good luck finding the replacement body parts for though. Not saying you can’t but some of those parts don’t just show up for sale regularly.

I would pass. If you want to go forward do a compression check. With that kind of mileage and the high likelihood that this car has seen time at the drag strip (the reason for the solid rear) the engine may need a rebuild.

Also how do you know the CEL is only because of the exhaust?
