Well, the time has come to tear into the Bullitt after years of it acting up and me not having any desire to look into the issues or drive it. I bought an 03 100th HD F150 to replace it as my fun vehicle, which has been an absolute blast for the last 2 years. But I miss the car, soooo the time came to fix it. Tore the engine out and found a melted piston which also melted a good portion of the cylinder head, and the opposing cylinder had valve contact. Too many limiter rips, whoopsie. So rebuild commenced, and here it sits as I clean up the wiring and get it ready to put back in. OK, just curious if you put mains or rod bearing seeing you had it apart.
I got you. So I actually freshly built this 03 Cobra shortblock back in 2015 but it maybe had 5k miles on it since then. So I just checked the rods as I had them out anyway, they were absolutely perfect so I reused them all again.
That’s awesome man. I wish I had the knowledge to tear down a motor like that and not forget where shit goes. I have to use ziplock bags and take photos before, and during.
I get that haha. Sometimes I still forget, I’ve been a Toyota Master tech for 20 years now, things just kinda fall right out of the memory bank haha. These engines are pretty simple though.

ugh, your really making me feel bad about neglecting my bullitt LOL been sitting for the past few years as I've played with other toys.
engine looks great! what turbo kit is that?
Haha I think I have 400 miles on it in the last 3-4 years. It’s the on3 kit. I put the original kit on it back in 2012 with the stock engine. I switched to the forward facing kit in 2015 with the new engine. Made 604/626 with the previous combo.

Just get a junk motor off marketplace or maybe even a dealer replacement that they are going to junk, we toss just engines all the time into the metal pile. You want to talk complicated… I had to remove and tear down a 23 Tundra with the new TT V6 that spun a rod bearing. So. Many. Parts.
