For the complete story please read my other thread: Help Identifying my Interior Color (2000 Mustang)

After my research, the upper part of the dash seems to be a similar color to Landau Black (SEM #15013) but SEM has Landau stated as a Chrysler interior color. As I see it, Landau is an even more darker shade of grey than Midnight Black (SEM #17013) but isn't Black at all.

Still have to clean the interior but Im giving it a couple of weeks before throwing some chems on.

The total cost of materials was around $160.00
-6 cans of SEM #17013 ZUEA Midnight Black
-1 can of SEM #38353 Plastic/Vinyl Prep Cleaner
-1 can of DupliColor Adhesion Promoter
-3 Scotch Brite Scuff Pads
-1 can of AJAX powder w/ Oxyclean
-Microfiber towels
-Interior pieces in Midnight Black from Junkyard (door, kick and door steps panels)

Im writing a detailed "How To", but in general this is the process:

Procedure:
1) Wash w/ dish soap
2) Rinse
3) Wash w/ AJAX
4) Rinse
(If the water still beads on the surface after this step, you have impurities)
5) Spray a good amount of Plastic/Vinyl Prep Cleaner (evaporates quickly) and clean it w/ a microfiber towel.
6) Apply the Adhesion Promoter (let it sit for 1 minute aprox)
7) Spray a light coat of paint while the AP is still wet.

I applied a total of 6 light coat of layers on every Medium Graphite interior part and 2 medium coats on the Midnight Black Junkyard parts.

I was impressed w/ the shine and finish of the SEM paint as its looks factory. If you don't know about Mustang interior colors in particular years, you just couldn't tell.

Much better, not a big fan that medium graphite color on any car

If you're outside the car and looks through the window its looks Ok. But on the inside the design dont flow to well. Much better all dark.

It sure does. The car isn't my daily driver so you have to keep that in mind if you decide to start a project like this. SEM recommends to not handle the pieces for the 1st hour, to not put some force on the pieces before 24hrs and to let it breath for 3-4 days before mounting them. After a week (Sunday) the smell was almost gone. Its not your typical aerosol smell either.

Its all in the prep. Your #1 enemy here is impurities. Quality of products has to do also of course. I had to repeat the dish soap/ajax washes 4 times on some parts due to contaminations. Armor All type of products, grease, hand lotions, etc.

Now just get rid of that ugly steering wheel cover

lol will do. I either will get a FR500 steering wheel or a GRANT/MOMO/SPARCO type of wheel.

Looks much better!

I know!

Yah I hear you man, if I were to do it again, I would have bought all the parts and just paint the airbags that are super easy. No masking except for the plug. But it was a fun project! Learned a lot!

Thats awesome, its like having a brand new interior installed!

It sure does Devious!

much improved

Thanks man :coolman:

the most time consuming part for me was the cleaning and the taking of the wire harness off the old dash and putting it back on the new one. but i am pleased with the results. good job!
